They have NXT and need 1 World Champion to make the #1 guy special in the company. This is where Big E falls in. He wants to be that SPECIAL STAR now.

This will allow the company to set a Main Event roster of guys they can use and programs.

    A.J Styles
    Drew McIntyre
    Braun Strowman
    Bray Wyatt
    Kevin Owens
    Randy Orton
    Seth Rollins
    Roman Reigns
    Edge
    Big E
    John Cena *
    Brock Lesnar *
    HHH *

You have a 10 deep Main Event roster across 2 brands. You can have a hell of an Upper Main event card here for Big E to slide into and work programs to becoming WWE World Champion (the combined title). The ones with stars are the HUGE stars you can use in special matches and maybe involve Big E in down the road. But it takes to build a special star and well..Big E can brag "Nothin is Easy in this world , and I don't take the Easy way to do it !"
No one wrestler is bigger than the brand. That's why you'll never see anything like this happen. And you're still gumming up one show's main event scene.

And this is why the company is really in shit shape. If your not gonna make guys special , then whats the point ? Austin , Rock , HHH , Foley and Undertaker was special in the late 90's. 2 of them was really super special with Austin & Rock. In the 2000's John Cena , Batista , Randy Orton , and Edge got that. With Cena as the superstar. In 2010's it was CM Punk , AJ Styles , Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar.

If your not gonna make the guys stand out , your gonna see the same attitude of...ehh who cares. This guy and that guy will do the usual , then this other guy will win and ...its boring.

Bischoff pointed out this weeks ago. He understands why Vince is doing this now because he doesn't want his top stars to ever leave for Hollywood since they will be hard pressed to replace them. That he's hoping an ECW effect takes place where the brand is more over. In some ways its hurt things and some ways it helps. But with general audience down the last few years due to how no one is seen as special in this new era , we get Bray Wyatt comically losing to a past his prime Bill Goldberg when he shouldn't.

The company has 5 hours of programming time on 2 brands. There is NO WAY its clogging up the main event scene doing this . Also scrap the 2 mid-card titles and use one to elevate that next star to this main event roster part. (Big E merging the US/IC titles would work with the new look US Championship coming out on top) .

Merge the tag team division since well , it needs a jolt. (The Revival joked it was dead and they didn't even want the belts).

The only different titles should be the NXT ones. (I'd also love if they'd actually have a WWE World Championship belt look like a cool title instead of a toy)

If you have 2 different shows with 2 a different brands with 2 different rosters, you need 2 different champions. That's just common sense

If there were no brands I would feel differently.

They could "gasp" have certain guys work both brands like the days before the brand split. Because they can do this. I mean your acting like something they did with both brands is a foreign concept again. There are certain guys who will work the both shows , not everyone. (Your champions will likely do this some weeks)

It didn't work. It just turned Raw from a 3 hour to a 5 hour show. You had the same top guys taking most of the focus for both shows.

How does running an angle between say , Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton on RAW in an angle gonna some how turn RAW from a 3 hour show to 5 hours ? Your not giving them a full 20 minutes a show deal here . Your just running a story that pays off at a big show and so forth. They can do this. Its not hard to do. They have the TV to do it. Hell they have WWE Network to even sell it more.

With the amount of guys on WWE got signed having a group of guys work more than one show is incredibly wasteful.

To be fair they just fired a bunch of guys they were wasting anyhow as we saw.

Comically I watched the Ruthless Aggression documentary where the WWE tried to rewrite some history. And they try to defend one silly decision or Bruce Prichard does as usual. In fact lets do a WWE claim vs Reality. This was episode #1

    - WWE Claim : We couldn't sign the expensive WCW stars that people wanted to see because they had contracts with Time Warner. And it wasn't realistic to sign them.

    - This was false. Diamond Dallas Page took a buyout on his deal and its likely the others would have as well. Instead it was more ego in a sense as the WWF/WCW Invasion angle was rushed out with people fans did not want to see. The WWF never contacted anyone else to do this as Goldberg , Hogan , Nash , Hall , Flair and Steiner would sign later for big expensive deals. That will be in claim #2.

    - WWE Claim #2 : After the WCW angle fizzled , Vince was all about creating new stars and had Ohio Valley Wrestling used as a farm league in 2002. But til they were ready he now was able to bring in the WCW stars fans wanted to see.

    - This too was false. Vince was scrambling badly after the failed Invasion angle. OVW was a farm league from 1999 and Jim Cornette was working there after backstage issues with creative. The WWF was worried and signed the Hogan , Hall and Nash to big deals in 2002-2003. Then they scrambled again and signed Goldberg to a big deal for a year or 2. In any case they waited too long , by this stage the fanbase who wanted WCW vs WWF had said fuck this shit and never came back.

    - WWE Claim #3 : It was simply a WCW vs WWF invasion angle now.

    - This one is the most absurd rewrite of stupid history done in ....well...done in years. If you watch you get the whole run down of that failed RAW show in Tacoma and Prichard brings up how bad it was as Buff vs Booker T for the WCW World title failed. Then....it skips to November and claims that it ended. We don't get the only highlight from the entire Invasion era was when ECW came out and took over.

The WWE claims it never happened.

    - WWE Claim #4 : The split was done to get more talent time on TV.

    - This one was partly true but the split was supposed to happen in 2001. In fact the very idea was WCW was gonna likely take over RAW. In fact tapings for it was to start that June or July but that 1 RAW killed it. Vince tried getting Viacom to give him more TV time before this for a WCW show . But Viacom was in deep with Vince for the XFL and didn't want more WWE programming then. So he tried doing what we saw and it failed.

But the idea was to give WCW its own show , but they pretty much pissed the name away by that crappy invasion angle and was stuck having to do what we saw.

    - WWE Claim #5 : Vince is such a revolutionary he decided to change the name from WWF to WWE because he just had that notion to do it.

    - This one was so comically false and watching guys applaud Vince for his vision in this was pretty funny. Not a word is said about the World Wildlife Fund which pretty much forced Vince into doing this. Not a peep. But yeah....funny as hell.

The end result was Episode #1 was such a comical fun deal to watch the company rewrite its history in absurd ways. Erasing ECW outta the Invasion angle was perhaps the funniest deal of it all. The only real parts was them worried after buying WCW out on what do they do next and the Steve Austin deal where he walked out. And even then the company looks beyond stupid considering where Brock was coming in and what they should have done with that match. (Austin would have put him over , he just wanted them to sell a big match for weeks and not be some deal that is thrown on PPV for no reason at King of the Ring)

I'm not sure what Rhea or Dakota have really done to earn a #1 Contender's Match? And I say that as a fan of both.

Also IDK what they're trying to do with Candice either?

AEW: Wow, we got a lot of heat on this Vickie and Nyla Rose pairing. Who can we bring that the audience hates even more?!?!?

I'm guessing Eva Marie wasn't available...

Raw and Smackdown have different titles for the same reason nxt has a seperate title. They are supposed to be different brands. Cutting titles cuts down on opportunities as you essentially have the same group of guys taking up airtime on multiple shows. And that's a problem for a lot of guys who aren't making it on tv as it is. A guy like wwe champ Drew getting 20 minutes of airtime on both RAW and Smackdown potentially means a guy like Drew Gulak gets none.

The split brand system works perfectly.
Big name goes through one roster of heels.
Has the choice to go heel and fight the rest of the roster or switches show.
    Rinse and Repeat.
    Keeps things fresh.

I just wish more guys went to NXT.

What NXT needs to move some guys to the main roster. UE and Gargano have gotten stale.
