These bumps man. Cornette talks about new wrestlers doing dumb shit

I wonder if that one Mulkey broke his tailbone ? That was such a hard landing on concrete. Reminds me of a story from Scott Keith's book. But it involved Johnny "The Bull" in WCW's dying days. He was having a hardcore match and told guys he was gonna do this leg drop to the concrete floor with no mat. The officials told Johnny not to do this and that he would hurt himself. Johnny ignored them and broke his ass on the floor.
But its hard to tell young guys to stop and not do dangerous spots. I like some of what Darby Allin does in ring. But the stupid idea to do coffin drops on the ring apron will backfire one day and he'll break his back or neck. Even Cornette ripped into this dangerous spot for just dangerous spot to do on TV. Conrad asked about Mick Foley in his early days doing these type of spots and how it cost him in long run.
Cornette said that as Mick became Dude Love and not doing these terrible dangerous spots , he told him how he felt he was letting the audience down. Cornette told him he wasn't and that the audience didn't want to see him hurt himself anymore. That they loved him as the goofy Mankind and Dude Love , where he wasn't trying to do these spots . That he really got over beyond that . Jim doubts Darby can do this since he doesn't want to learn anything given he mocked the WWE Peformance Center . Because they'd teach him to be a full talent who can watch himself in ring.
I mean if Ryback at 35 nearly had back fusion surgery , could you imagine someone like Darby Allin at that age with coffin drops to ring apron ?

People remember the super high spots in the WWE MORE because they don't happen in every match every week. I know some people knock the WWE's "safer" style where you try and get over frankly doing as little as possible... but in the long run I think your body will thank yo for it.
Foley Hell in the Cell Bump, or Jeff Hardys Swanton off the 20 foot ladder in TLC is memorable because they're rare moments reserved for big matches. In those instances it was worth it. But risking your career for a high spot in the undercard for a typical weekly show probably won't be. You'll get a nice pop, but a week later everyone will have forgotten about it and moved on because everyone is doing high spots anyways.
For the sake of the business and their own bodies, some of these guys probably should scale some of the high spots back a bit. In the least save it for the BIG matches.

WWE's "safer" style is offset by how often they make their guys wrestle. It's moot how safe the style is designed to be when you have your guys wrestle four times a week and sometimes have them wrestle more than once in the same night with no adequate time for rest. The only time any WWE guy gets time off is if they get hurt. Makes it easier for a guy like Darby to Coffin Drop as much as he wants if at most just has to work once a week.
Back in the 70's territory wrestlers performed everyday, and they still don't get the same sort of injuries that wrestlers now have. Freaking Rock and Roll express are still performing today. But they weren't doing the stuff and regularly taking the bumps which a lot of indy guys now. If they don't learn to get over without doing that to themselves, odds are it will start catching up to them.
IMan that sucked not because it was offensive it sucked because it sucked. Much like Claire the foot Lynch. Doesn’t matter if AJ and Dix were ok with it, it was fukn garbage. The only good to come from it was unintentional comedy like slap nuts passing out in an ankle sleeper hold.
Yep that’s what I’m thinking. Not offended I just don’t believe they have a good exit strategy here. Even if it’s Heyman this was the kind of stuff I didn’t care for in ECW.
Sweet, because as everyone knows when your girlfriend cheats on you with a woman it means they want to have a threesome with you

Lol. Yep a lot of ECW does not age well. When a lot of older wrestler get on the new generation for not selling and taking too many risks, I have to point to ECW for leaving that impression on today's generation.
