King Kong: Skull Island. It was on TV last night and I was able to watch it all the way through with no interruptions. The monsters are freaky and looked like something from The Mist. I usually hate CGI but this was pretty good. Anyway, monsters freak me out, even the awful Liviathan did when I was young. If I think about them too much when I'm alone, which is a lot as I'm single, makes me want to run and hide. Cave girl flight or flight instincts, lol.

For me it is. I watch them for my nostalgy not because of the action. I love character moments and montages but also Cap and Bucky and Natasha and Thanos.

Mad Max Fury Road does little CGI and is one of the most visiually interesting movies of all times

I hate CGI too. But...it really depends on different things. First: The quality. Marvel movies has very good cgi. When I watch Justice League I could cringe, that was bad.

With Mad Max Fury Road I couldn't even tell what was cgi and what not. So that's a real good sign.

I really hate it when they show us something like a helicopter and that damn thing is computer generated. Hell, its a heli you could film a real one. Or blood..why don't they use fake blood?

X-Men, Dark Phoenix. Not sure if this was worse than Apocalypse or not. I liked the last fight in the train, but that didn't make up for an overall pretty awful movie.
One thing? Am I right in assuming that Days of Future Past did away with all the continuity from X-Men 1-3?
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

I was hoping to watch this one in theaters as well as Saint Maude for more under the radar flicks but will probably have to watch both elsewhere. At least I'm glad it's liked.

I almost did go to see it in a theatre, but decided to wait until another day. Then the theatres were closed so I couldn't. Probably just as well that I didn't go, since I might've got the virus had I gone. However, seeing it on the big screen would have been ideal. The photography, costumes and art direction are so grand.

I watched Black '47 and the documentary Porndemic this afternoon thanks to the free Showtime preview.

Neither one was all that great. The former because it was so low-key that even the action scenes felt like they were moving in slow motion. The latter was interesting up until I realized that they had no clear answer to the central question they were supposedly covering.

The Ring. I enjoyed it. I haven't seen the Asian version.

The Platform on Netflix. Compelling allegorical movie.

Apocalypse is an underrated movie, not good kind of underrated, but at least it's average, still better than terrible.

I've ended my X-Men movie marathon yesterday with finally watching Dark Phoenix, and it's just dumb **** that doesn't add up, nothing makes sense, not within the film series continuity (which Days of Future Past made sure to mess up anyway) nor within its own continuity with itself.
Villain motives are all over the place, pacing is awful, Jean getting mad at everyone other than Xavier is done piss poorly, shuttle accident made no sense considering who designed it and for what....

It also has the silly "power damping" collars. Which have never made any sense anywhere.
