But the more guest appearances he makes the less I appreciate the main character from A Certain Magical Index, which has me dreading going through that show.
I tried watching both shows a few years ago, but gave up and dropped them after over a dozen episodes. With Railgun, I found Mikasa to have been a wholly unlikable lead character, beyond being a perpetual tusndere, her being overpowered, and a borderline bully with seemingly no weaknesses (except when she faced Touma) was a turnoff for me. With Index, it was Index herself who annoyed me no end, like with Gray Lensman, I viewed her as a miserable brat who grated on my nerves. To anyone who likes both shows, I'm glad you do, I just couldn't, and I tried.

    Interesting.

I am exactly a dozen episodes into Railgun and so far Misaka is easily one of my favourites. Any tsundere tendencies are limited to her interactions with Touma, with the rest of the main cast she's friendly and open except for the part of her that like overly cutesy clothes and stuff like that. As for her strength, that was established early enough in the series that I was prepared for it, and she does have some interesting reflections about taking her power for granted (even though she worked hard to get there) in relation to other people who are closer to being normal people. So yeah, so far Misaka is just cool to me.

It's naturally fine if you don't like her. Just wanted to give my perspective of her.

And again, I have yet to get into Index.

I like Misaka a lot as a protagonist in Railgun.

As a supporting secondary protagonist of Index, she has potential that I think is often squandered due to the other factions and groups getting introduced and furthering the plot while she is sidelined. Her role during the World War 3 arc for instance is practically nothing, like she was a checkmark to appease fans. Probably the best thing about getting a spin off is putting her in more focus.

I think "OP" is a pretty relative term in the Indexverse as far she goes. Her antagonists include Accelerator and Meltdowner, fellow Level 5's the latter of which can give her a good fight and the former of which she absolutely cannot beat on her own. Even more cerebral villains like Kihara Gensei were particularly effective. As much as she is a god tier above anyone Level 3 or below, there has been a fair share of good challenges for her in Railgun.

I do agree that Index herself is a weak character. She's never particularly interesting in any way to make up for her more annoying habits, and worse yet she's a person with no real agency in the plot despite her literal index often being crucial to it. She may as well be an actual book, aside from a few far and in between scenes where she demonstrates the ability to use her arcane knowledge to turn a situation around (and even then its still pretty minor support whereas Accelerator and Shiage are clearly more of the supporting protagonists of Index)

Halfway through Gundam 00 season 2. While the series of course seems to be going through the usual Gundam tropes, (Some form of evolved or genetically engineered form of human, a authoritarian "crackdown" group, the Gundam getting some extra add-ons to sell more models etc) I'm impressed how well the series still holds up visually 13 years later, but I guess that it was intended to, given it was the first series specifically designed for HDTV.

Is there a satellite/meteor drop? That's one of the biggest ones, right after the cool masked villain and giant robots as blitzkrieg weapons.

Although I haven't finished the series yet, there is a "Death Star" style weapon in a few episodes, similar to the "Solar System" and Colony laser, from UC, Genesis and Requiem from Seed, Barge from Gundam Wing etc.

The Space colonies don't really seem to play a big part in the series, which seems mainly set on Earth and space mostly seems to be industrial or military stuff as opposed to living environments . It seems that apart from the ongoing UC stories, the habitable space colony concept has generally not been in much use since SEED. IBO for example, dealt with Mars, but didn't have too much of the classic artificial environment colonies.

Watched Char's Counterattack again. It's kind of a bit confusing that the movie pretty much starts in what feels like the middle of the story already, but apparently this is because it only adapted the second half of a "light novel" Tomino was writing for a magazine at the time ("Hi Streamer").

Finished 00. It's interesting that the series, while following some of the regular Gundam tropes also has a sort of interesting twist on the "Newtype" idea.

Has anyone else watched Bleach? I'm on Season 4 and the pacing for this series is so off that I find it difficult to get into and watch more than one episode at a time. There is backstories for everyone and flashback episodes. Our main character runs past the pizza delivery guy and now an entire episode will be based on him and who he is delivering that pizza to. (And don't even get me started on the Mumu storyline from seasons 2 and 3).

Can I expect more of the same or does he get an editor who says, "Hey, let's cut this boring crap out."
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.
