More like a bittersweet day for there’s still an issue of Soule’s DD to enjoy. What an amazing run it’s been. I’m so grateful for the awesome stories and, of course, the unparalleled talents of Garney, Henderson, Buffagni, and Noto making this run one of the best! Thanks!

Yes, totally! A great partnership between Lark and Gaudiano on art duties.

Very much agreed. I'm partial to Lark as he's one of my favorites in the business, but you are 100% right.

As some of you may be aware, Daredevil is my favourite hero and I'm also a Daredevil comics completionist. It may have been odd that I wasn't joining in when quite a few of you were talking about Soule's run. The reason was simple, I wasn’t reading it as I hadn't got "there" yet.

A few years ago, I took on the task of reading every single Daredevil comic and all of his major appearances in other runs/mini-series/events/crossovers, chronologically. I also read all the major Marvel events and as I reached Volume 3 (2011), I also took on reading all of Spider-Man and a little later Captain America and The Avengers. This, as you can imagine was quite time consuming.

Not so long ago, I finished Hickman's Avengers epic storyline and the whole Secret Wars event. When this happened, I decided that I wanted to read Daredevil #612 when you guys did. Therefore, I put Spidey, Cap and "certain" Marvel events (Pleasant Hill, Civil War II, Secret Empire....) on hold and started Soule's run. I also decided to read the Defenders and any other directly linked issues to Daredevi/Defenders which included each of the Defenders solo runs as well as one-shots and major Daredevil appearances in other events.

Well, I did it, I have now read every regular Daredevil comic from 1964 as well as most if not all of his major appearances elsewhere. One thing is for sure, Charles Soule's run is one of my favourite runs. When I get a few moments, I'll write some thoughts on Volume 5 as well as the additional issues "outside" of the regular run.

Hickman's Avengers run is a thing of beauty as well. Those are some good comics you've got to read lately.

It was fine. As with the rest of the tail end of Soule's run, the gorgeous Noto art certainly helped (I really wish he could have done some earlier arcs in Soule's run - I can only imagine how much better the Supreme arc would have been with him on it but anyhow...).

Where this final story was going became pretty obvious by the previous issue and this conclusion went exactly where it was looking like it would. Props to Mike Murdock for calling it.

I guess some might find it a bit of a cheat and I can see that but personally I was fine with it.

In a way, it was a very elegant way for Soule to both tie up all the loose ends of his run, give it closure, and yet leave everything open for the next team.

I've never been bowled over by Soule's DD but yet always found it to be a dependable read and this issue followed suit with that. I liked it, and thought it was a decent end for a respectable run.

I came into his run late with All new All different and this is the first time I starting reading Daredevil but I liked what I read so far I really loved the fake out of today's issue. Maybe I'll go back and read his run from the beginning.

^ I couldn't figure out where to buy that poster at NYCC, so I never did.

I read the issue. Even expecting the ending, I thought it was a wonderful issue. It sums up the reasons I really liked Soule's run a lot and the art was beautiful.

    Pretty good.

Beautiful art by Phil Noto. Man, he draws absolutely lovely stunning faces for women.

Charles Soule did a very good job. spoilers:
When all those villains appeared in the arena, in particular Ten Fingers and later Bullseye, I knew someting was off. I was just waiting for Soule to give us a "Bobby Ewing". I like how it was Karen that Matt "saw". IMHO, she's the "one". I've never been a fan of Mike Murdock and I really wanted closure on him but we didn't get it.
    end of spoilers

I don't think Soule wrapped a lot of things up, but rather left a lot of stuff out there - Mike, the Hood, Elektra''s feelings/stance on Matt/DD, Bliindspot, the Mayor of NY.....Zdarsky and Chechetto have some "cleaning up" to do.

A memorable last issue to a very worthy Daredevil run.

Wow!! That is impressive! Congrats! In doing so did any of your previous favorite arcs/writers change? Or did it solidify why those were your favorite in the first place?
