I've always thought snapping Sinestro's neck was the lowest moment for Hal... As Sinestro mentioned in Green Lantern Rebirth, that was the final stage of breaking Hal's will.

Snapping Sinestro's neck was what finally broke the last of Hal's will, but murdering Kilowog was the first act he makes as that broken man. As a result, killing his friend would no doubt be more traumatic for Hal than killing a villain who'd just been resurrected from the dead.

So I was just wondering, since I dropped GL books excluding New Guardians after Johns run ended, just what was the point of that Renegade run in GL and why did the rest of the corps get 2 minis during that period? and who was responsible for making them disappear.

There was no real point to any of it and there was never any explanation for why the corps disappeared. None.
