There's a subquest I kinda left hanging. If the pace of Part 4 continues the way it's been going, if it's not too exhausting for me, or Miburo and KingofPie, might do some necromancy of Part 3 and finish it. Nonetheless, as we proceed in the skipped time, we'd received a powerlevel upgrade a little while back.

The end of that leg of the The Ten Schools quest would have granted Ochazuke and Zaofan GM-gifted techniques as outlined here (To the best of my recollection, feel free to step in, Cleric):

Phoenix School:

Reversion: The Phoenix Master's style was one focused of redirecting an enemy’s power. This technique allows one to catch and contain an attack, then subsume it and make it your own before returning it. It is a dangerous technique as it requires you to ‘catch’ an enemy’s attack and take it as your own

Resurrection: The Phoenix Flame can be loaned to another to revive the spirit and mend the body from grievous injury, returning another miraculously to wholeness and life. This technique only works once per engagement, cannot be used by the user onto himself. Revive 1 target to 50% of power, or multiple targets a fraction of 50% (ie; 2 targets = 25%, 5 targets 10%, etc)

Lion School:

Lion’s Roar: The Lion Master, once considered King of the Hidden Hand, is shrouded in mystery, but the lineage of his techniques is that of champions. Once employed by Simon Battersea, The Lion's Roar is a sonic-enhanced ki attack that can knock an opponent back or induce crippling pain within the eardrums.

Lion’s Mane: A protective ki aura, like a mane of energy, surrounds and acts as a defensive shield

However, my guys have too many techniques, so I'll use these as the basis for upgrades.

Zaofan

17) The Warm Glowing Warming Glow: a lukewarm Optic Blast that transmits recuperative ki energy to assist in mild healing or lending ki to an ally. Its healing properties are not as potent as more dedicated healers but can be good for quick triage. The amount of ki that can be lent is finite depending on Zaofan's own reserves, since it is effectively a drain or transference of his own ki. This technique does not work on purely technological beings, and is less potent on beings more powerful than Zaofan.

Enhanced with Phoenix Resurrection becomes

Ho-ou Sosei (鳳凰蘇生 "Phoenix Resurrection") [Zaofan spec, warm glow warming glow]

Resurrection: The Phoenix Flame can be loaned to another to revive the spirit and mend the body from grievous injury, returning another miraculously to wholeness and life. This technique only works once per engagement, cannot be used by the user onto himself. Zaofan is able to revive 1 target to 50% of power, or multiple targets to a fraction of 50% (ie; 2 targets = 25%, 5 targets 10%, etc)

Limitations:
- 1 use per engagement
- Zaofan, if pressed, can use his Life Energy to use the technique again at great personal risk to himself. This would effectively take him out of the fight, however.

13) Cho Gattai Ken: (Great Fusion Fist) : By combining the fire of the Dragon's Breath, the Crane School's energy techniques, the collective foundation of the Turtle School, the speed of the Wolf, and the striking power of the Hokuto Shinken, Zaofan has the power to channel heat and concussive optic energy into a single strike, hitting at five times his hitting power and can penetrate most materials. However, due to the fact that this technique uses life-force thanks to the Crane School in addition to juggling the schools, he can only use this technique sparingly, roughly once per battle at this rate. And, obviously, he must be able to strike his target for it to work.

Enhanceded with Lion's Mane becomes:

Juouken (獣王拳 "Fist of the Altered Beast") With further mastery of the disiplines of Wolf, Dragon, Bear, Tiger, Lion, and Phoenix, Zaofan has augmented his physical capabilities to incredible new heights. The increase of strength and stamina allows him to start a battle at with the ability to strike at 2x his base powerlevel for three action posts (strikes, techs, etc), after which he must build up the ki reserves to channel this state again after a cooldown of 3 posts. In addition to the boost to his default hitting power, his physical attacks pick up an additional piercing property; Zaofan not only strikes a target, but with concentrated effort, the impact also goes through it in a localized shockwave burst through his aura (ie, he can hit his initial target, and also whatever is immediately behind it in a distance of about ten meters)

Ochazuke

5) Taikyokuken (太極拳 "Pinnacle fist") An adaptation of the classical Crane technique the Solar Flare or Taiyoken. As the user of a solar flare amplifies and redirects the rays of the sun to an opponent's eyes, using Taikyokuken Ochazuke synchronizes with ambient energy, and with focus amplifies it and takes it under his control. This can be used to various effects, from amplifying and repurposing local energies, or using himself as a focal point for pooling ki to cast later. Provided he has a light source, he may use it as a standard Solar Flare as well.

Enhanced with Phoenix Reversion becomes:

Hoyokusen (鳳翼扇 "Phoenix Wing Fan") Ochazuke can catch and contain an attack, then subsume it and make it his own before returning it. He is also capable of converting and dispersing the energy into other forms, such as concussive force, storing it to use as an enhancement, or shunt it away as a harmless dissipation.

As a visual aid, been looking at old Quasar feats for inspiration [1] [2]

Limitations:

- Since Ochazuke is not a magician nor possesses God Ki, while he can exhibit some resistance over more esoteric energies, the effect and his control over them are limited by his understanding of them. If he is not countering a form of ki, the results outside of resistance may be unpredictable. (ie: at present he cannot precisely emulate Freiza's contolled resistance of Hakai).

- The greater the difference in strength, the faster it burns through his stamina. Ochazuke requires a 1 post cooldown between uses of this ability.

2) Kiai: (気合 "Fighting Spirit") Assertion of ki to apply force over an area of effect. Directed outward from his person or targetted through meditation field.

Enchanced by Lion's Roar becomes:

Shuhari ni Kiai (守破離 に 気合 "Mastered Kiai") Some thoughts have a certain sound, that being the equivalent to a form; that intention itself is the fundamental essence of ki. Through manipulating the essential flow of ki within energy and form, Ochazuke is able to disrupt an opponent's defense by targeting the very 'nature' of their energy. Just as a body cannot move with paralyzed nerves, or muscle affirm upon shattered bones, once sighted Ochazuke is able to snuff out intent, neutralize auras and unravel innate or passive abilities inherent to an opponent's nature. (requires at least 1 post to set up)

Burning Shingan - The Burning Shingan allows for the manifestation of something akin to nuclear energy, with raw heat and power emanating from its user with enough intensity to turn an unprepared warrior to ash. Even those of the Phoenix clan are not immune to this power. Perhaps as a result of this 'mutation', those of the Phoenix Clan lack the Jumpstart ability found in a Nevadian such as Held, instead possessing immense regenerative capabilities, allowing them to survive their own destructive energies.

Regeneration - HE HEAL REAL GOOD

Trial by Fire - Piercing insight with a more flavorful name. This one is a technique improvement... special. When pushed to his limit, Voyavoda can upgrade a specific technique if certain conditions are met.

For example, if his techniques keep getting interrupted because of a speed differential, they can evolve to activate faster. If they keep getting dispelled or negated, they'll evolve to become more difficult to do so. Things like that.

More generally, it allows him to adapt to and predict opponents he fights better.

The former requires an intentional activation of this ability, and the latter happens as a matter of course.

History: The founder and leader of the now-defunct mercenary group, the Riskbreakers. Although retired now, he is fairly well-known among his people, being rather infamous for (willingly) taking a Saiyan woman as his wife, and for being one of the few grandmasters of the "Golden Flames of the Ruler", a fighting school whose history stretches back into antiquity.

In truth, he is the founder of the school, and the only person with the knowledge of its true ultimate technique, the Flames of Palingenesis, which allow for a Phoenix Tribesperson to mimic--and even surpass--the jumpstart they lack, granting a form of resurrective and regenerative immortality... at the cost of having their current self "burnt away", though certain things remain--learned skills, accrued power, as well as a detached recollection of their "past lives'" memories. As such, his true age is... considerably greater than it appears, though his current 'self' has existed for just shy of a century.

[Monstrous Bird of Qin, Ou Ki]

Phoenix Eye Fist (Physical/Ki/Burning Shingan) - A method of attack that focuses all the energy from Voyavoda's blows into a single point. By default, this results in an effective +1 tier to physical attack, and he can add Burning Shingan for +2.

Plasma Cutter (Ki/Burning Shingan) - A fiery ki blade.

Plasma Sniper (Ki/Burning Shingan) - It's a death beam. Made of fire.

Firearm (Burning Shingan/Little bit of ki) - Points at enemy, shoots ball of ki/burning shingan energy that explodes.

Aura Magetta (Burning Shingan) -An aura ability that gradually raises the temperature in the area, causing opponents to gradually become debilitated... provided they're vulnerable to heat, anyway.

Nuova Phoenix Armor (Burning Shingan) - A variation of the above, concentrating all that heat into Voyavoda himself. Functions as both a defensive energy shield, and offense by burning opponents and amping up (one time, after which it resets to base) any attack with the "burning shingan" tag. Synergizes with Aura Magetta in that it can serve to 'pre-load' Nuova Phoenix Armor... that is to say, he can put up Aura Magetta for X posts, absorb it into himself, and it'll be like he's had Nuova Phoenix Armor for the same amount of time.

The heat does need to be discharged eventually, after roughly 10 turns. Every 2 posts, the eventual discharge technique boost would gain +1 tier, for a max of +5. Counter resets after.

Phoenix Nova Star (Ki/Burning Shingan) - Your standard energy beam, like the Kamehameha. Does incorporate the burning Shingan, so it does burn and emit heat that may still cause a bit of damage on a near-miss.


Cleansing Flame (Ki/Burning Shingan) - Adverse (status) effects are reduced in effectiveness by half and are cleared in half the time.

Ma-tobashi (Interval Skip, Bypass) (Burning Shingan) - By flaring his burning shingan, Voyavoda achieves the impossible and burns... space itself, allow him to 'skip' the intervening space between himself and an opponent.

Grand Flame of Palingenisis (Ki, Hozon) - A passive technique that activates upon death. While Phoenix tribespeople normally lack a jumpstart, Voyavoda long ago learned (or developed, perhaps) a forbidden techniques that allows the user to be "reborn from the ashes" should they sustain fatal damage, provided some part of them remains.

Unfortunately, this technique 'burns away' most of the user's personality when used, leaving them, effectively, a new person, different, yet still informed by who they were before their rebirth. Also weakens them for a time after their rebirth.

Missing two abilities and as Sasheem need his two Ten Schools abilities, so...

Vermillion Heat- Using the energy absorption techniques found in the Phoenix school, Sasheem can harness offensive energy thrown at him, ki and magic alike and absorb it within in his own skin, using the ki to grow red hot for a time, becoming like a thing unto molten metal though his form doesn't shift or change any. He can expel the heat via concentrating it within an opponent's wounds resulting in an explosion from within.

Resounding Roar-The King's Call- Sasheem harnesses the lion school techniques over sound to shout loud enough to distort dimensions ever so slightly and allow his next physical attack to hit the opponent in four different directions at once.
