It seems that the Rath storyline really changed the status quo (at least for now).

New synopsis for Aquaman 44
"Aquaman no more! Still reeling from the stunning events of last issue, the onetime Sea King becomes obsessed with finding the mysterious redheaded woman from his vision. But where to even start? Don’t worry, Arthur: that mysterious redhead is looking for you, too, as Mera begins the hunt for her missing mate. Amnesiac Atlanteans, redheaded mermaids and more, all on a collision course inside the mysterious town called Unspoken Water."
From what she said about her intention for the story, I thought DeConnick wasn't going to use Mera at all. I am glad that I was wrong

I think Mera will continue as the second lead of the book, right? Judging off the solicts and the film focusing on her so heavily.

I don't think I'd stick with it if she's obscured, honestly. She's such a wonderful character.

So, honestly, what do you guys think the point to the whole ATLANTIS RISING thing was?

It didn't feel like an organic part of Abnett's run, nor a true conclusion. Also doesn't seem like DeConnick is using it either. Was it just a Scott Synder JL thing?

i'm worried. i keep missing details like that. like over in the hal jordan thread, people do notice whenever hal's boots are colored white.

The preludes to Drowned Earth didnt really do much for me, but man this first issue was quite the hypefest.

The 3 otherworldly seagods were all badass.

The unknown power potential this issue teased for Aquaman built hype for me and should indicate an increase in status for users who rep him on the battle forums. Something along the lines of "You had all this power and you used it to talk to fish". Possible telepathically amp to given the instant with Mera.

Aquaman's two greatest villains also had pretty epic moments in this first issue.

Hell yeah to seeing more Arion and Poseidon too.
