Has it ever been established that he has any kind of empathic connection with fish? John's established that fish are too simpleminded to have a conversation with.

Meanwhile? What else would a sea-dwelling person eat? Kelp? It's the ocean: everything eats everything else.

Do you need a superpower to show empathy towards living, sentient beings? Arthur Curry is not just any dude, he's a great dude and a hero of the sea.

As to what he eats! Well, that's where you have to get creative in figuring out what a wonderful aquatic civilization eats and farms...cause it can't be sea life- that isn't sustainable.

It's like saying humans aren't allowed to eat meat because we live amongst cows, poultry, and plethora of animals we do eat without thinking about it twice (unless you're a vegetarian).

They can eat fish. Maybe some of them choose not to just as we humans choose not to eat meat. But unless their flora evolved to be good enough to eat then maybe they can be Atlantean vegans or something.

They can eat fish. Maybe some of them choose not to just as we humans choose not to eat meat. But unless their flora evolved to be good enough to eat then maybe they can be Atlantean vegans or something.

We're already destroying the seas because of commercial fishing and overfishing. Imagine all that PLUS a whole nation under the sea doing the same- it would be horrific. The Atlanteans must have developed new ways to live in their centuries below the surface, food and reliable food sources being a huge one.

I'm not saying that some random Atlantean dude doesn't occasionally eat a fish, but it shouldn't be the norm in their society. Not with Aquaman in charge, a guy who hangs out with Topo the octopus (or giant squid) and once tried to invade Japan over the death of a dolphin.

I'm just saying that a little more thought should be put into Aquaman and his relationship to the living creatures that populate his seven seas.

I've had my ups and downs with this run but overall I enjoyed it immensely. I appreciate some of the world building and expansions Abnett gave and I absolutely adore the agency and forward characterization for Mera. There were a few more interpersonal relationships I would have liked to see remembered and developed but all in all Ive been happy. Can't wait to see how he ends it!
