They definitely are, and to be frank, I really don't care for that era of Aquaman. Visual or narrative. Just not for me. I stick to the reprints (showcase presents or digital) of the silver age run and New 52-onward sans the Bunn run.

I understand I'm in the minority since PAD's Aquaman is a darling among Aquaman's fanbase.

Just ordered Aquaman by Peter David Book 2 (issues 9-20, Annual 1) the other day. I loved the PAD run and hope they collect the whole thing.

I'm in the same boat. I do not like Peter David's Aquaman, narratively or aesthetically. Big ole fan of the Silver Age stuff and the New 52 onwards (John's, Parker, Abnett).

I like Aquaman and his world to be more scifi than fantasy. Futurist underwater society as opposed to the Game of Thrones thing. There is a balance that can and should be struck between both though, I thought Abnett did a good job with that up until recently.

Count me as another vote for this.
The book really would benefit from a breather, and start to re-establish the links between characters.
Garth should DEFINITELY be back in the book considering they don't want to use him in the Titans book.

Yeah, not a lot of breathing room as we're going from the Civil War -> Sink Atlantis -> Drowned Earth -> Kelly Sue starting her run.

And by the way, I loved Peter David's run on the book.

A writer who also did a stellar job, but gets forgotten is Dan Jurgens.
His take on Atlantis found that right blend of sci-fi and political goings on.
Well worth checking out if you haven't already!

I read on the Aquaman Shrine about Jurgens' run. Seemed like a pretty solid run .

Why isn’t the entire Aquaman Rebirth run so far available in HC? Only 4/5 issues? Are they the ones with the spectacular artist? I can’t remember his name, but is he still on the book?

The New 52 stuff has way more in common with Game of Thrones than anything Peter David ever wrote.

    Amen!

That era of Aquaman utilized his mythos and toys brilliantly
