My first knowledge of Aquaman was the Super Friends cartoon in the early 70s. I've been a fan ever since.

This seems interesting. I hope KSD can keep the momentum of this title going. Its been one of the few titles to have been mostly well written since the reboot and I hope it continues.

He's losing me as a reader for now, too. This is pretty much everything I don't like about Aquaman in one image sans a hook hand. If there's enough good buzz around the book, I'll give it a look, but until then I'll save my money. Shame, my pull is hemorrhaging DC titles in wake of their current leaks and announcements.

That's my point, it seems like every other arc Arthur loses the crown or is thrown out of Atlantis.

He and Marvel's Prince Namor would make interesting drinking buddies, swapping tales about how many times they've been screwed over and deposed in their comic book stories.

That's been a problem since Post-Crisis .

Although if any good movie synergy comes about, it would be making Arthur king again.

He looks nothing like Mamoa. He's had this look long before Jason Mamoa playing Aquaman was a thing that existed.

I think Aquaman suffers with what a lot of characters do in that once a writer is gone the next ones ignore what they created. There are a ton of characters created over the years that just get forgotten. I mean look at things like Kordax, Noble, Lagoon Boy, and all the lost colonies from the 90's series. It seems like the only things that ever really get touched on Manta, Ocean Master, and whatever evil king is sitting on the throne at the time.

Writers need to dig deep into past runs and reuse some of the toys just sitting on the shelf.

Absolutely!
I would be VERY happy to not see Ocean Master or Black Manta for a LONG time. (Unlikely with the upcoming movie, but still...)
I would love to see some of the older villians given an upgrade.

I wasn't a fan of Erik Larsen's run, but I'd be interested in seeing another writer's take on Noble too.
