I sympathized with his anger towards the family, because I get the feeling the movie was showing Wakanda wasn't totally right. But afterwards he did little to endear himself to them.

The plan superseded a previously announced international expansion of the majority-controlled American streaming service, Hulu, which has only expanded outside the United States to Japan. Chapek argued that the Hulu is not well known outside of the US, while Star being a much more recognizable brand outside of the United States.

You have to consider the actress too who is even more popular now and the character.
The villain and actress is more well known now and plus they have a story to tell a certain way for the mcu.
It's been reported she is a clear breakout star.

Well, I think it was more just the execution and how culpable they made Wanda in what happened.

Which stems from how Wanda is perceived thanks to HoM. Unfortunately that is pervasive and people believe Wanda did what she did out of being so into having a family that she disregarded everyone's safety. Despite that being no part of her character for the 40 years before AD/HoM.
