But there's only so much more mileage you can still get out of that cast. Secret Wars will probably be a big swan song (if DP 3 isn't).
You can actually do a lot with that cast. Namely Exiles, X-Force, the Messiah Saga, and Krakoa. Things that can only be done with an older X-team. Ryan Reynolds even hinted that X-Force is still on.

I mean, depending on if they want to carry over that continuity, but I feel like there's more to be gained from rebooting most of it at this point.

I honestly don't see what new ground you could cover with a new version of the X-Men. It would be hard to avoid making it feel like a retread of the prequel movies.

Well, Cyclops getting to be awesome and not overshadowed by Wolverine .
Also you can pull more from the comics with a different vibe than the Fox films.
Elsa Bloodstone not having red hair will always feel wrong to me.
I agree! Having first seen her in Nextwave, she'll always look that way to me. I remember seeing the covers to her original mini-series, long before Nextwave, and she was a blonde Buffy lookalike, and I was like, 'No! Unacceptable!'

Easy, do a different story. They didn't do a story with the Acolytes, and barely used the Brotherhood even. They could do a U-Men story, or X-STatix.

Focus on actual X-Men members. So many were under represented during the Jackman/Lawrence/Magneto/Xavier era. Actual X-Men at the forefront? Yes!
