Why these showrunners have the need to look down the original material and put themselves as the ones who are improving the kind of things than make readers get interested in the characters?

I suspect they'll recast but I hope they just replace. Kang had a lot of potential as a character, but the MCU version adapted the least interesting thing about him (the "multiple variants" angle), and reaction to the Multiverse has been so tepid that this is an excuse to downplay it.

Unless Disney signed some type of ridiculous contract with Majors (like the Cleveland Browns did with Watson), finally Disney can get rid of this horrible individual.
Even personal issues not withstanding, his Kang was just nonstopping scenery chewing overacting.

Doom seems like the easiest thing to pivot into - Secret Wars, the Doom-Kang connection, and new Fantastic Four movie.
Otherwise, MCU could just lean into the X-men, and make a Magneto or Phoenix as the thing that all the movies are building towards.

I was always expecting they'd have a Kang Variant turn into the Beyonder so maybe they'll figure something similar to that...or not.
