Default The Riddler Has Seen the Yellow Sign.

The Riddler has seen the Yellow Sign, and he became obsessed with it. For purposes of this scenario, everything written about the Hastur Mythos is true. What happens?

No takers? Okay, I will give it a shot.

The Yellow Sign is like an evil meme. Looking at the Yellow Sign briefly is an unsettling experience, and may cause the viewer to become obsessed with it. Looking at it longer can cause madness or despair. It is associated with a play called The King in Yellow, which was published in book form. Reading the second act of the play causes madness, as does watching a performance of the second act. The third act serves to summon an ancient and malevolent entity known as Hastur, or else to transport readers, actors, and viewers to the city of Carcosa, either in an alternate reality or on an alien planet. The King in Yellow is also an entity that may be either an avatar or alternate identity of Hastur itself. Speaking Hastur's name out loud attracts its attention, and sometimes can provoke an appearance of the King in Yellow or flying monsters known as Byakhee.

The Riddler has an inquisitive mind and a fascination with puzzles, so he is going to seek out The King in Yellow and eventually lose his mind. He will want to share the experience with others, such as the residents of Gotham City. The Yellow Sign bears a slight resemblance to a question mark in shape, so the Riddler might replace the question marks in his costume with Yellow Signs. Or he might go for a more subtle presentation with just a single, small Yellow Sign incorporated into his costume. His next step will be to arrange a major event that will either summon Hastur or displace Gotham to Carcosa. Most likely it would be in the form of stage performance of The King in Yellow, perhaps accompanied by a more typical Riddler crime spree as a distraction.

Given that the Hastur Mythos is real in this scenario, it is likely that at least some of the supernatural-oriented characters of the DCU will have knowledge of it. Batman has dealt with the Riddler enough that he may notice something about his recent activity. Batman should call in for help, like from Zatanna or Jason Blood, but he probably won't until he identifies the Yellow Sign or otherwise figures out that there is magic involved.

The doom that came to Gotham II maybe Riddler will start to hallucinate that he is the yellow king before dying.
