Superman by Gabriel Soares:
"Searching the internet, I found the first edition of the action camics, in it the superman appears for the first time, the title is "Superman - the champion of the of the oppressed" and it enchanted me, so I thought of drawing something that translated it to the public. I did some research on the internet and found two images that helped me a lot in the creation process. (a father dressed as a superman carrying a child on his lap and a girl in treatment against cancer)"

An update on Clark's development in Year One
According to Romita, Clark will sign up with the U.S Navy and goes through twenty five pages of training to qualify as a Navy SEAL

One of the things I like the most about Superman is highly versatile nature of his character. He can be anywhere from champion of social justice, spacefaring adventurer and even reluctant messiah, and that gives the author a huge amount of liberty in the way they choose to portray Superman. This is why I'm mostly accepting of the stuff Bendis is doing right now. I liked Geoff Johns' stories, I liked the Tomasi/Jurgens era and Scott Snyder's Superman Unchained reconstructed Superman while the rest of the New 52 simply had no idea what to do with him. I've been having a lot of fun with the new Superman era and I can only hope the quality of Bendis' stories increases over time.
IIRC Sueprman in the Golden Age was a war veteran so I guess Miller is going old school.

I don't know how would Superman work as an active frontline soldier. I'm not entirely opposed to the idea, and I think Superman would be a pretty capable wartime commander in his own right, the place he truly excels at is in his morals. While Batman and Wonder Woman would be more effective in a war, Superman would be the guy that prevents the war or brings the war to a close. He is truly an embodiment of the ideals of peace and justice and can navigate moral quandaries and crisis of conscience better than any of his Justice League peers.

I've read Superman: Birthright yesterday, massive improvement on 1986's The Man of Steel.
Pull-List:
DC: Batman: Damned, The Green Lantern. Young Justice. Wonder Twins
Boom!: Ronin Samurai.
RIP Stan Lee
Stan often made references to DC heroes in the Spider-Man newspaper strip too, the most recent arc had Iron Fist telling Peter he wasn't as rich as Bruce Wayne, and Supes has been mentioned a couple of times in other arcs.
