Default Comics where DC imitated Marvel (and Marvel imitated DC..)

I'm reading that 1990 Superman comic where he comes across a quartet of astronauts who receive unusual powers after being exposed to cosmic radiation (sound familiar?)

What are some other times DC and Marvel have copied each other?

Hawkeye and Mockingbird are obvious clones of Green Arrow and Black Canary

    others?

DC made Timber Wolf in 1964.
Marvel made Wolverine about a decade later with a VERY similar appearance, but an over the top attitude.
Fast forward to the 80s, and you have Lobo pop up with his over the top ways.

Another is that Deadpool is a direct ripoff of Deathstroke.

Just take Your own example back further to it's roots, and it's Marvel ( by way of Kirby reinvention) borrowed from DC...

    Challengers and somewhat familiar powers!

Similarity and influence, particularly the issue where Rocky returns to Earth from his experimental flight with four similar powers, and the four names and (Doc Savage Crew) character, personality "types" as templates.

    http://api.ning.com/files/4uAgdQIDJS...ase6splash.jpg

With Rocky (stalwart strong man) - Becomes.Thing rocky power
Professor Haley (moody oceanic scientist ) - Becomes Reed Richards/Fantastic mutable viscous power.
Red Ryan (hot head dare devil) - Johny Storm /Human Torch flame based power
Ace Morgan (cool headed flying ace) - this one is a stretch becomes air based powered.
Unless you just merge him with June Robbins, becomes Sue /Invisible girl.

The Squadron Supreme is Marvel's alternate Earth JLA and there are multiple alternate Earth versions of Avengers in the DC Multiverse.

Isn't Squadron Supreme meant to be a parody of the Justice League?

Deadpool was at one time completely derivative of Slade Wilson - Deathstroke.
With sevrel of the most popular 90's trends mashed in.
Pretty much expert trained to perfection in all weapons, so he could visually be loaded with big katanas insanely popular in everything, and spilled into supers, and loaded with guns Slade, Vigilante, Punisher, etc...was the trend.
Plus abundance of pouches and amo straps.
Obviously the word death or dead had to be in the name.
Further he had to be a mutant big trend at the time.
And particularly regeneration powers, see Wolverine, Lobo, so he could be hacked at, shot, dismembered, stabed et.. anything bloody and extreme! And still always come back.
All rolled into one outrageous over the top character.

Thing is creator Leifield was dead serious about this completley derivative character.
It wasn't till later creators recognizing and writing him as absolute self-parody, that he really came into his own.

    Actually no,well....not really.

Squadron Supreme and The Heroes of Angor (Silver Sorceress,Bluejay ect) were part of an unofficial crossover between the JLA and the Avengers in, I think, the late 70's.

2 issues of each series link together to tell one story with the HOA standing in for the Avengers in the DC issues and the SS standing in for the JLA in the Marvel issues.

Both groups eventually got fleshed out and sorta became their own things later on.

Also the Extremists from JLE are connected to the HOA and are based on Marvel villians.

    And...

    Swamp Thing - Man Thing

    Doom Patrol - X-Men

    Darksied - Thanos.

    Legion of Superheroes - Starjammers

    Green Lantern - Quasar

I find this the most funny since the internet was responsible for it

They came out so close together it's hard to say if either is a knock-off of the other. Could be that they're both knock-offs of The Heap.

...again, so close together it's hard to tell. They could easily both be knock-offs of The Fantastic Four (who as noted above, are a blatant knock-off of The Challengers)

Actually, it's the Shiar Imperial Guard that were the Legion knock-offs. I can't actually think of anyone the Starjammers were a direct knock-off of, unless it was a lose mash up of The Millennium Falcon's crew and generic pirate movies

Eventually, yes. But he was originally a revision of Marvel Boy (who debuted before Hal Jordan), later known as The Uranian, and the shift to a ersatz GL didn't happen all at once.

Actually, Marvel's Nova and the Nova Corps is a more direct copy of the Green Lantern and the GL Corps, despite their different powerset.

That is one of the best Superman stories, it was the beginning of Hank Henshaw. I loved it.

And there are so many similarities it would take me a few weeks to compose them all.

What about this one? Maybe it's just a coincidence....but this was before Beast's transformation.

True and both can be rooted back to E.E. "Doc" Smith's Lensman.
Nova was pretty much Green Lantern concept but what if the last survivor passed the power instead to a Peter Parker like character (Rider), and without instruction.
What's funny is years later DC would re-copy Marve's copy of their own property:
When they slaughtered the Corps and had the now last survivor of what was once GLs, pass the power to a Peter Parker like character (Rayner), and without instruction.
    LOL!

Not sure if this is visible to all but it’s like 50 side-by-side cover image comparisons of DC/Marvel characters and their debut dates

There are some mistakes/inaccuracies but the comments provide them.

I might not have all my facts in a row, but the unofficial crossover thing started around 1970 and was really formed around the Rutland Halloween Parade which was a real life event that took place in Vermont. Both Marvel and DC would depict the parade and sometimes have spoofs of the other company's characters.

The Squadron Sinister showed up in the Avengers as bad guys who were very loose analogues for the JLA.

Later the Squadron Supreme who were good guys met the Avengers and the homage was a little more obvious.

I think around this time DC had the JLA meet the heroes from Angor who were an homage to Avengers.

The Extremists of course are bad guys from Angor.

In the Superman/Batman comic there was group called the Maximums who were parodies of the Ultimates who of course are the Ultimate Line's update of The Avengers

I heard a rumor that Gerry Conway ( Man-Thing) and Len Wein ( Swamp Thing) were roommates at time, so the similar origins might have even been on purpose.
