You're not using that term correctly. She didn't take anything she was forced into it by someone else. Much like a lot of things in her life she had no choice in anything that's happened to her.

There's a LOT more marvel has done that you could ask for them to atone for than this.

What was a racist, offensive stereotype is when they decide to make Psylocke a martial artist she literally had to become Asian. As opposed to her just training and taking fight lessons.

That’s why there ended up being no development of Kwannon after the body swap was retconned in. It’s also why they never dealt with any ramifications such as Psylocke’s family and friends having difficulty with her change in appearance. And since a white woman was placed in the body of an Asian, what would Elizabeth’s reaction to a white person racist against Asians? Nothing that could have made this truly interesting or redeeming was done.

If the writers had actually given Kwannon a past and had Psylocke has to deal with Kwannon’s family and friends perhaps you would not have had these criticism.

I remember an 80s movie where the brain of a hopeless injured woman was out in the body of a brain dead woman. The movie was about the woman adjusting to her new body. She met the husband and child of her new body and talked to himself. In the end she went back to the husband of her original oft who supported her transition.

Nothing like this was done with Psylocke . I don’t even remember her discussing it with her brother!

Had they dealt with her coming home and people having some difficulty adjusting to her new looks it might have had a different impacts on fans.

Personally I’d say that at that point it was more a matter of course correction with the character rather than just throwing the baby out with the bath water. Stories like that could be interesting character studies but aren’t really possible with them just returning her to her original body.

Well that's why Psy's complaining. No one cared for 30 years because it's just comics. Even when they repeated the plot in the Ultimate books no one cared.

And it completely undermines his/her point, if there was some massive "PC" push that's the cause of the change happening now when literally no one cares. Where was it for the actual thirty years she was casually waltzing around in another body?

It’s not a matter of now wanting it, it’s a matter of pointing out that there were other options than just throwing out everything. Just like people tend to point out other directions they could have taken characters rather than resetting them to default.

Betsy did discuss her change with him when she reunited with Brian. He noted the change being external while she recognized internal changes in him. Betsy also briefly talked to Jean about her discomfort with seeing Brian again beforehand and dealing with the subject.

I’m more interested in the reverse track, how characters like Jubilee, Warren, Hank, Remy, Rachel, Bishop, etc, who’ve known Betsy mostly or entirely as an Asian might respond now.

That's Marvel for you. Why explore & make effort for new stories when you can hit a reset button & go back to whatever they see as the default. Psylocke can now be added to the list. lol

Jean, Wolverine, Madrox = Alive Again
Rogue x Gambit = Together Again
Deadpool = Waypool Again
Psylocke = Original Body Again
Magneto, Monet, Sabretooth, and Wolverine = Costume Resets
Emma, Magneto, Sabretooth = Returning to Villainy

The list will keep growing. And for me, I don't care for too many of them. The one recent reset I loved was Jubilee getting repowered. Otherwise, if we have to reset stuff, they could try resetting it to when characters were at their best. Fix the horrid characterization on Gambit, Deadpool, Sabretooth, Mystique, and Storm. Idk why we can't have that.
