Return of classic Defenders in Dec

I actually enjoyed Bendis' run a lot but yeah those guys aren't the Defenders.

I think part of the turn-off for me, other than them not being the classic Defenders, is the portrayal of Luke Cage. Ever since he’s been tied to Jessica Jones (who I can’t stand) and had the kid, he’s been castrated as a character. He’s not cool anymore. IMO, they ought to reveal the kid was always a Skrull (as hinted a long time ago), split the two characters up, give Luke back his hair/shave his face, and give him a new Power Man costume.

Thing is, the Netflix Defenders should really be called either Heroes for Hire or New/Mighty Avengers.

I hope they add Valkyrie. The original Defenders lineup isn't my favorite, I'd prefer to bring on Hellcat at least, but Al Ewing is hard to say no to.

I personally never found the dynamic between these characters interesting tbh. They were put together because of their power rather than chemistry together.

Man they have tried this so many times and it fails every single time. Some thing are just a product of their time and the Defenders with the original 4 is one of them. Let it go.

Failing and then relaunching is the Marvel way! Good for Garney, really solid artist.

I was a big fan of the Defenders back in the day, so I'll happily check this out.

That said, I'm not sure the Defenders really works as anything more than occasional minis. I don't think we'll ever get the original Defenders to work as a on-going. Really, apart from the SUrfer most of the Defenders are basically tied to the Avengers anyways.
