Watched it during last Halloween and while very late 90's it doesn't get enough respect & love IMO.

Wasn't it August 21st, 1998 that Blade came out?

Wow! How time flies! I’ve heard arguments that the Marvel Cinematic Universe didn’t begin with Iron Man in 2008, but with Blade. Even after twenty years, the film still holds up well, and the sequel was even better.

The lack of Blade both in the MCU and in comics is a bloody shame and I don't even like vampire stuff.

While folks discuss it in "Marvel" movies starting there, that sequel is really where the "Hellboy" films start.

IMO, Blade proved that you didn't have to have Batman or Superman on the screen to convince people to buy tickets to a superhero movie. It also proved that people will accept superheroes of more than one color.

Well, Guillermo Del Toro directed the Blade sequel, so that was to have been expected.

Color was not a big deal. Blade also showed you did not have to be Deadpool to go R RATED.

I think Blade was just what we needed after Batman and Robin.

Certainly. A lot of the visual aspect of what would be the "Hellboy" films had it's roots in the visuals of that second "Blade" film.

Blade was not marketed as a superhero movie back then. At all.

It was sold purely as an action horror movie on the back of Wesley Snipes which actually made a lot of sense considering what happened in the years prior.

That being said, I also watched Blade recently and it was pretty good.

If you account for that the special effects clearly give away about when the films was made, it has aged incredibly well.

I usually try to sit through at least a half an hour(if not the remainder of the film) if I come across it.
