Latest rumors are that Keri Russell is playing a bounty hunter-something we haven't seen in this trilogy so far.

If they're truly going the 'larger threat forces Jedi and Sith to unite for the greater good' route, then one wishes Rey had just joined up with Kylo in TLJ. Then you'd have Luke and the old guard poised for a confrontation with the next generation, only to end up finding common ground and a new way going forward.
I don't know. I feel like Disney is anxious to prove that the Star Wars franchise is bigger than the Jedi/Sith conflict and the Skywalkers and they want to close that narrative. But it's not like I have any insight into their thought process. That's just the impression I get from the announcement that Rian Johnson's trilogy wouldn't involve Jedi/Sith.
This is just my personal bias, but the Jedi have always been the aspect I'm most excited by. I was hoping we'd eventually get a flash forward to a future where the Jedi Order has been re-established, though maybe not the dogmatic order we see in the PT.
We sort of got that with Solo, apart from the Maul cameo. Rogue One still had a great deal of force stuff in it though with Baze and Chirrut (and Jedha in general when you think about it) Vader, and of course the Death Star itself largely being based on lightsaber technology.
Curious if the Mandalorian will also stray from the force as well, although I think that the Mandalorians fought the Jedi in the past is still canon, even if the exact circumstances are different.
Curiously Johnson's work outside of TLJ includes neo-noir (although I'm not sure his breaking bad stuff would fit).....something the novels tried with Michael Reave's stuff (Medstar, Coruscant Nights etc.)

There are rumors of a new TIE fighter design, one that's sort of looks like the Sith Infiltrator and the Rogue One Deathrooper transport; basically a TIE that's got the traditional panels but lacks the 'eyeball'.

Although it's sort of an OT grey instead of the black/red design the First Order usually seems to use for their TIES, it's reportedly a First Order ship.

Apparently, we're in for a new droid that is a buddy to BB-8 and a "reforged" Kylo mask.

The design choice for the mask sounds really cool, IMHO.

There's been a few footage descriptions from a sizzle reel shown to Shareholders.
-Something involving a "Blockade Runner". It's unclear if this is the type from the OT or the TLJ version (Which was Holdo's ship before she took command).
-Kylo Ren with Vader's charred helmet again. Looks like it survived the destruction of a large part of Snoke's fleet.
-Rey with Chewbacca's bowcaster. Hopefully she's just borrowing it like Han was in TFA and we're not losing another OT character.
-Rey, Finn and Poe in the Falcon cockpit.
-Lando.
-Rey doing a somersault with the lightsaber.

Matt Smith is now denying he has a role in the film.

Another grain of salt, but apparentally this one is that Matt Smith *is* in the film, but is also possessed by Palpatine, and after he is killed, Palpatine "jumps" into Kylo Ren, but Kylo kills himself to kill the Emperor once and for all.
Yeah, not sure about this one. It's a bit too ROTJ of course but also I think It's way too similar to the Empire's End comic series (Not to be confused with the Aftermath novel of the same name) which did basically the same thing, although in that case it was a Cyborg Jedi who became Palpatine's final vessel before dying.

There's an interesting theory that Darth Plagueis' secret to immortality is that he infects or possesses the body of anyone who 'kills' him. So when Palpatine killed his master he was actually infected, and this is why he's obsessed with training a Jedi apprentice who can strike him down.
It's kind of out there, I'm not sure they'd ever do it, but it would tie a lot of things up and explain what Palpatine (or rather, Plagueis inside him) would have gained by having Luke strike him down. Because Palpatine never seemed like the kind of guy who was so devoted to the Dark Side as a cause that he was willing to sacrifice his own life just to corrupt Luke.
