Literally any show concept can work if you have the right writers, cast, crew, etc. If there was a good Batgirl show on the air regardless of who is under the cowl it would do really really well in this day and age.

Give me a break. While I hated the Burnside version at first, I later gave it a second chance and was surprised at how well it hung together and was enjoyable.
I also enjoyed what I read of Steph's run, too.
But since I grew up on pre-TKJ Barbara as Batgirl, that's who will be the first one I think of as "Batgirl".
And, yes, I watched Yvonne Craig as Batgirl on TV when the series was originally broadcast on ABC television.
