So, in addition to them shutting down the PS3 digital store, you apparently can no longer get the patches and updates for some games as well. Even if you buy the physical copies you may no longer be able to play them.

but again it was 20 years ago and theres been a bit of turnover at ND since then. Its not the same studio that made Jak. The heads of the studio arent even the same. ND making the game would really only be about lending their name

I'm cool with ND not doing it. My initial response was just explaining why other fans wouldn't want other developers to touch Jak and Daxter.

I'm fine with it. It's an acceptable risk at this point.

Naughty Dog has expressed regret over the Last Frontier and how turned out. So if they wanna come back, they could just start there. That's why I suggested they remake Last Frontier.

With or without Naughty Dog, the next Jak game should skew a bit older. Jak has more in common with Joel than Crash Bandicoot.

If they wanna appeal to a younger audience, I suggest rebooting it.

last PS5 update made it possible to store PS5 games on external hard drives, internal HD expansions still apparently coming later in the year

Speaking of "heat" Sony has right now. The director of Days Gone isn't happy as the company turned down a sequel they pitched. The game sold very well but as director brings up Sony told them the metacritic score (71) is why they won't move forward with a sequel. That the company is demanding scores be over 80+ for their exclusives. People have started a petition demanding Sony make the sequel for the game as its nearly at 50,000+ signatures in a couple days.

Also according to what is being claimed (online and its not really confirmed) Sony has sold 6+ million units of PS5's in total. Only 3.5+ million have active accounts. Which means right now scalpers are sitting on 2.5+ million units. Which if true is just more negative press for Sony who has watched this unfold for months with no real solution to stop it.


But yeah the last few weeks and more haven't been good days for Sony. Their image is in the shitter.

Negative press was killing Sony. Now if they fix the clock issues in PS3-PS5's they could rebound the negative press they have been getting. Also again that sales figure isn't a confirmed deal . I haven't seen the user data confirmed. They have been racked over for how badly the launch has been on social media with posts of "Worst console launch ever done.." repeatedly.

First gen consoles - and the current ones in particular - are often sold as loss leaders. Sony need a good attach rate to recoup that cost in royalties, which they won’t get off a huge number of consoles are actually idle.

A good step, but they still need to fix the CMOS battery issue. Even more so now that it's confirmed to be an issue with the PS5 as well.

From what MetalJesus has claimed in a video , Sony is now looking at this issue. He brought up that Sony needs to issue a firmware update on all consoles that way the games will play forever as collectors will want certain games and systems to play.

They do care. The PS5 is sold at a loss. Sony is willing to do that as the sales of accessories and software can make up the difference. No one is gonna buy controllers, headsets and games if the sold console is sitting in a scalpers garbage.

The CMOS problem is not as big of an issue people are making it out to be. It's an easy fix. Replacing that battery is not hard.

It's not about simply replacing the battery. The system has to be connected online after the battery is replaced. Once the servers go down, when the CMOS battery dies (and it will, they all do eventually), your system is a brick even if you replace it.
