Default Things the DCEU COULD do but aren't...

So rumors are buzzing about Cavill leaving, Afflec in and out, doing a Supergirl movie instead, directing issues with Flash, no GL movie in progress etc. IMO DC and WB should drop Hollywood and focus on expanding an in-depth DC PG-13 rated, animated Universe. Ask any random person whos not even huge comic fans and they'll tell you "the DC animated movies were dope, but Marvel just does better films". Why aren't DC and WB cornering this market for their subscriptions? There should be movies like Batman Vs. Robin, Under the Red Hood, Justoce League etc. And they should do those like EVERY OTHER MONTH. Thatd be awesome in my opinion. Stay away from live action hollyqood WB. Youre cursed.

Its not an either/or situation at all. DC is doing plenty of animated films, and they should do more - and certainly more animated series. But that isn't solving their live-action movie problem.

Frankly, one thing they can do for live-action IMO is more team-up movies. Not in the vein of BvS - more in the spirit of Thor: Ragnarok. At one point, they were apparently planning on this...I dunno what happened.

Flash and Green Lantern. Green Arrow and Black Canary. Superman and Shazam. Batman and pretty much anyone.

DC character animated movies don't make much money. Teen Titans Go! has only made $29 million so far. Justice League made more than that the first day. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm only made $6 million.
The rest WB prefers to release direct to video because they know there is no box office for them.

Everyone thinks their an expert now, it's so embarrassing. The DCEU should do whatever works for them. F the critics and everyone else because people are just going to bash it anyway.
Imagine being proud to have negative traits. I can’t relate.

DC: Justice League, The Flash, Justice League Dark, Superman, Action Comics, Green Arrow, Justice League Odyssey, The Terrifics, Teen Titans, Titans, Brimstone, Female Furies, Damage, Heroes In Crisis

Marvel: The Punisher, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Venom, X-23, Cloak and Dagger, Jessica Jones, Sentry

Indies: Unnatural, Jeepers Creepers, Project Superpowers, Black Hammer, Ninja-K

You can't just raise the middle finger to "everyone else" and expect to make a successful movie. People bash the movies because they are badly conceived, and badly made.

Maybe they can stop going grimdark. While keeping an understanding that 'not grimdark' doesn't mean 'always be quippy.'

Isn't that what they are doing now?

In yet every film they had made a profit. The worst performing one still broke 600 million.

It's uncertain if there was any actual profit in Justice League's 650 million.

If it is true that it cost $300 million to make I am not sure it even broke even because I think the theater gets to keep half the profits. So WB would only get around $300 million back.
And that isn't even taking into account the marketing costs, whatever that is. Consider that Suicide Squad cost $175 million and made $747 million and Wonder Woman cost $150 million
and made $822 million and that gives an example of how poorly Justice League did for the amount of money it cost to make. For that kind of money a movie should make $1 billion at least.

We don't all agree with that opinion.

They, generally, don't cost as much as a live-action one, though. TTG had a budget of US$10 million.

Teen Titans Go! has only made $29 million so far. Justice League made more than that the first day.
Justice League opened in over 4,000 cinemas and had multiple showings throughout the day. TTG opened in fewer cinemas and (in the UK at least) had fewer screenings, with most (again UK) being targeted at early-in-the-day slots to cater for children.

Basically, there are a number of factors to consider. However, taking into consideration the budget for the movie is a fraction of the ones for live-action ones, the returns are pretty good. They're obviously not tent-pole movies but they don't hurt the cash flow. A few of these a year could result in a decent revenue stream.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm only made $6 million.
It was only released in around 1,500 cinemas and, scaled for inflation, made over $10 million (unclear what the production budget was (Wiki says almost $6 million, based on info from BoxOffice Mojo, but BoxOffice Mojo currently says "N/A")

The rest WB prefers to release direct to video because they know there is no box office for them.
They can make one for them.

As they said in Field of Dreams...

I'll give you the "badly conceived" part as subjective, but "poorly made" isn't an opinion.

I can safely say that there's not a single non-comic book fan who has seen a DC animated movie recently.

    I’ll do you one better:

I can safely say that there’s not a single non-comic book fan whose even aware DC still makes animated movies.
