The other thing is that when Storm first started losing control of her powers it appeared as though there was no purpose. Remember her fight with the Viper and losing control. Remember when she lost her way and later she did the work to figure it out and turn it into a place of empowerment. It wasn't pretty at first so yeah I am going to give Pak a bit of leverage here.

That was not a case of 'no purpose'. Storm was well aware of the purpose. She had been in space so long(not to mention had committed abortion/suicide, breaking her no-kill oath), her connection to the spirit of the earth(and her own inner spiritual tranquility) had been broken and needed to be re-established.







That's the thing as well. Storm has already done this exact song and dance before. She has done the spiritual introspection throughout her initial(still powered, and rough) punk phase(questioning her 'unreachable, untouchable goddess' persona), and subsequent powerloss and eventual rebirth. She should be aware of the psychological pathways in her mind. To act as if this is all happening for the first time, and she is clueless as how to deal, is a bit silly.

Yeah that's not realistic, not even for Storm. She fought Magneto a few times and yet she used lightning each time despite it being stupid. The idea isn't that it's just well tread motif, it's the journey, it's the spiral. This feels a bit different but the way she's processing it is a pattern.

Except Scott isn't a psionic mutant...his emotional state doesn't excite electrons or rearrange water molecules into storm clouds or cause winds to spring out of nowhere or causes him to bathe the earth in deadly radiation so........

It is actually a big deal because it's like if Pak is writing a Cyclops solo, and when Beast hands over the tab to Cyke, Cyke loses control of his powers and accidentally destroys the tab with his optic blast. or if Pak was writing a Kitty solo, Kitty accidentally loses control on her powers and accidentally phases and the tab falls to the floor.

You do realize that has happened, even recently right, like in the last few years. Scott doesn't have control of his powers right now because he's screwed in the head right now.

Storm didn't lose control of her powers when Professor X died but she would lose control just by hearing the "we need to talk" phrase?

and once again, Storm had a lot of experiences. She shouldn't be emotionally carried away easily.

Also folks repeat patterns, even in fiction. Storm didn't know that process or why it was happening until after it happened. When it first started she didn't know.
