    How unfortunate for you.

It's the child that Allah-forbid could be a victim here. The degenerate millennial parents are totally to blame if the child is bullied for having the shame of carrying such a ridiculous name.

So... you're basically endorsing bullying based on names. How long before we get to the name Mohammed?

    You are the unfortunate one.

No. The parents are victims, too. And they're endorsing bullying based on names, passing it off on innocents.

You both should be ashamed of yourselves and probably banned from these boards for this.

Most (maybe all) parents of bullying targets are very much victims, as well. They have to deal with the crap almost as much as the kids.

Besides, what about the kids that would love the name? 5 in my classroom said they would, including a girl who thinks the name should be gender neutral. More often than not, kids with odd names really do like their names. I speak from personal experience.

AT a push, but when you give a kid a name like that, you're inviting bullying.

I'm pretty sure no one here has endorsed any bullying.

A bit more seriously, let's juste hope that the kid won't be redirected to this very thread when he will be of age to use google and may try to enter his full name to check out what comes up...

IMO, this is the most important criterion. If a name is going to give your kid ten to hundred times more crap from his or her classmates compared to the vast majority of names out there, then why inflict it upon said child?

Hey, the kid could have been named Poopy Head instead.

I don't think so, and passing blame off to the parents for doing a very innocent act IS endorsing bullying. Blame for the bullying resides solely on idiots who apply labels to any name, which those two were also doing. No names are "ridiculous."

As someone who actually remembers being a child, every thing that could be done to discourage physical and mental cruelty should be accomplished. Knowingly giving your son or daughter a name that would instead encourage said cruelty makes absolutely no sense to me.

I disagree, realizing that bullying based on names happen and understanding that you can help to ease that depending on your name choice isn't endorsing the bullying. Being criticized for not avoiding a particularly tempting target for such bullying doesn't apply as bullying either, unless it's actually gotten to the point of harassment that qualifies of course.

    Right.

Do I wish we lived in a world where little SpongeBob and Princess Peach weren't bullied on the playground over their names? Of course. Unfortunately, in the real world, they would.
