enhanced foil cover by JOHN PAUL LEON
    variant cover by MARK BROOKS
Batman is hot on the trail of a murder suspect, but first he’ll have to get past Two-Face. More importantly, what is Dent’s connection to the victim, and what does it all have to do with the terrorist organization of slithering serpents called Kobra?! Whatever it is, it’s big enough to reunite Jim Gordon and former district attorney Harvey Dent, and that meeting alone is worth the cover price.

    Thoughts:

    - Cool! They're reviving Secret Files. Although wouldn't the common man be effected by Fear Toxin the same way everyone else is ?

    - "Even millennial superheroes are moving back in with their parents!" Dang it, I thought we were moving past this. But seriously still looking forward to what Scott has in store, and I like the idea of Babs working with the GCPD. Although the way they frame it sounds like she might get into trouble with her hacking into their database....

    - Isn't this basically like the old KGBeast story? Although it sounds like there's more going on this time around. Tony S. Daniel also draws the classic costume pretty well .

    - Sounds like they're basically doing "Return of the Joker" again in comic form in that Batman Beyond solicit.

    - So Selina's broke and behind bars. I'm wondering both how the police were able to catch Catwoman and if this frame-up story will be resolved by issue #6. I'm also wondering if the flashbacks will be as continuity-heavy as the stuff King has given us.

    - The team of Batman, Harvey Dent, and Commissioner Gordon back together? Sounds cool .

    - So not only are we getting yet another flashback or origin of the Nightwing identity, but Scarecrow gives Dick a fear of heights (which is probably as close as you can get to a weakness for Nightwing). I'm also curious about the "love triangle." Babs vs. Original character?

That first sentence in Batgirl's solicit just turned me the f@#$ off. The costume looks really good on that cover though.

It bothered me too, but I'm going to give Scott a chance to see if she can finally move Babs past this "Millennial Heroine" niche she's been stuck in.

    HARLEY QUINN #51
    written by SAM HUMPHRIES
    art by SAMI BASRI
    cover by GUILLEM MARCH
enhanced foil cover by JULIAN TOTINO TEDESCO
    variant cover by FRANK CHO
Harley broke most of DCU continuity last issue, and in this ish, she’s dealing with the fallout, namely the time-tossed hero of World War II called Captain Triumph! The golden boy of the Golden Age finds his black-and-white approach failing miserably in the gray areas of the modern world (although unfortunately, there are still plenty of fascists for him to punch). It’s up to Harley to return Captain Triumph to his own time, but she’ll have to put the kibosh on his do-gooding first—right after she figures out what “kibosh” means!

Trapped in a future he doesn’t understand, Captain Triumph can’t battle his way out of our modern world, as all his efforts lead to disaster. That causes him to butt heads and trade punches with his would-be protector, Harley Quinn. Can Harley talk her way out of this clash? And more importantly, where’s she getting a time machine so she can send Captain Triumph home?

Are they talking about the old Quality Comics hero?

Everything looks impossibly good.Top of the list has got to be Supersons. Tomasi seems to be having a ball with this title and i love it.

Nightwing reminding us all he is a great detective YES, Nightwing developing a fear of heights HELL YES. Kick him out of his comfort zone. Dick Grayson is more than just 'The Acrobat'.

Bruce going Batshit crazy over Nightwing getting hurt YES
Jason kicking it up a notch Hell yeah and how good is that cover.

Detective sounds really interesting and promising
Catwoman and Batgirl are not titles I plan on picking up but those are some gorgeous covers.

    As for the collected volumes
    Bad Blood
    Bold and the Brave
    Nightwing
    Black Mirror
    Both Harley's

When a famous Hollywood talent agent is found brutally murdered, suspicion and evidence seem to point to his most famous client, Oscar winning actor Magilla Gorilla. Dick Grayson, already in Tinseltown to meet with said agent, senses something suspicious. Donning his Nightwing costume and joining forces with the simian suspect, he’s got one night to prove that this monkey doesn’t belong in a cage. Plus, part three of a Secret Squirrel backup story written by J.M. DeMatteis.

Marcus To cover...why no Marcus To art? BUT Tom Grummett is a great one! (I really don't know why they keep up the massive price point and the backups that nobody seems to like with these. But...they keep doing them, so maybe they're selling better than I thought. Still annoyed that they're not putting the A-List talent on the writing for these.

I do really like the idea of the foil covers, and that they're not pushing a higher price point for them.

Even millennial superheroes are moving back in with their parents! While recovering from the injuries she suffered battling Grotesque, Barbara Gordon’s been living with her police commissioner dad while she recuperates. To get Barbara out of her funk, Jim Gordon hires her to do some I.T. grunt work at the GCPD. Unfortunately, he just gave full security clearance to one of the best hackers on the planet! Batgirl now has access to the police database in hopes of capturing Grotesque…who also seems to be using the database as well! Is this an inside job?

The Dark Knight’s looking to drop both the hammer and sickle on the KGBeast, whose rampage across Gotham City takes a toll on Nightwing when he’s injured in the fray. Blaming himself for his ward’s fate, Batman gets grimmer than usual—and vows to take the Russian assassin down like the Berlin Wall. Is even Gotham City ready for that much violence? The streets will run red like borscht if the Dark Knight gets his way against this Soviet scourge.

Bummed by the shift in direction (or at least "solicit tone" - more on that below). I really don't care about KGBeast, and Daniel is sadly a step down for me from Lee weeks, BUT, a step up from David Finch, and I'm glad to see some consistency.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Selina in Villa Hermosa. Her new city has taken away what little she was able to carry with her from Gotham, and her rap sheet offers scant protection when local crooks frame her for murdering two police officers. The law has caught up with her and Catwoman is in the clink, giving her time to reflect on her life and all the things that led her to Vila Hermosa. Turns out she didn’t choose the move randomly or just to get away from the Batman. This special interlude issue takes us back in time to explode some previously unknown truth bombs from Selina Kyle’s past. BATWOMAN artist Fernando Blanco joins Joëlle Jones to explore a couple of the early versions of Catwoman’s nine lives.

I am sad to have been right that Jones would need assistance. But I'm glad she's getting it from such a talented artist as Blanco.

“Knight Terrors” begins here! The big issue #50 kicks off an epic four-part story that brings together critical moments of fear and doubt from the past and the present. A young Dick Grayson hopes to escape the shadow of the Bat and earn the title of Nightwing, while an older Dick Grayson must deal with a blow he did not see coming. A common enemy unites the timelines: the Scarecrow, as you’ve never seen him before! This story goes deep into the mythology and nightmarish development of Dr. Jonathan Crane.

And while Nightwing struggles to uncover the truth behind the “fear germ” that is killing people in their sleep, he must also try to overcome his own sudden struggles with heights and vertigo. He has lost his primary skill set as a hero and will have to focus on his brilliance as a detective instead. And a distracting love triangle certainly isn’t helping him focus...This new storyline spins out of events in BATMAN #55. Don’t miss the start of a new direction in Nightwing’s crimefighting career!

Bummed but completely unsurprised to see Dick/Babs hit the mat. Ah, well. Wish they'd be a bit clearer of how this spins out of Batman. But glad Mooneyham is back!

I'm really, REALLY curious to know if the delay of #25 is because of retooling (possibly due to negative reaction to the darkness of the solicits for September and the Annual, possibly because the Sean Murphy redesign hasn't gotten as much positive buzz as they'd hoped). I'm definitely hoping for a GOOD direction, but this seeming shift in direction doesn't give me confidence, sadly.

I don't know if the Murphy redesign had anything to do with issue #25; if there were problems because of the redesign or the September solicits, wouldn't it be issue #26 that would be delayed, not issue #25?

NOTE: Issue #26 is currently still listed as "In Shops: Aug 22, 2018" on Previewsworld.

Well, it's a shift in direction I've felt the book has needed for a while now, so it's the most interested I've been in the books for a while now.

I'm not sure I see DC so quickly back-tracking from it.
