Default Unintended implications of elements of the marvel universe.

    1. Isolationism works in the Marvel universe. Most of it's advanced societies are small isolated populations. Examples include Wakanda, Latveria and Attilan.

    2. The Government is sinister and doesn't have the common mans interest in mind. Examples Virtually every mutant story ever told involves extremely well funded government organizations, that are more then willing to

    a. experiment on it's own citizens.
    b. murder large numbers of said citizens, either deliberately or indirectly.

This combined with the shear number of politicians that are shown to be corrupt or down right evil, paints a picture of the government(US in particular but not exclusively) as a sinister entity.

    3. True atheism is an impossibility. Their is no way an average citizen in the Marvel universe could see the stuff they see routinely, and not have some level of theism. The Average person in Marvel New York has probably seen aliens, gods Lovecraftian horrors, and even magic, and a bunch of stuff that doesn't obey any of the laws of physics as they would understand it. Agnostics, yes, probably a bunch, but outright atheists, highly unlikely.

    1. I'm not really sure how you can use anything akin to real-world geopolitics to contextualize the likes of Wakanda and Latveria.

    2. Government conspiracies, and the moral bankruptcy of the government and its agencies, are no stranger to the real-world. Right now, we have state forces in the most civilized and democratic countries on earth profiling and targeting individuals from different ethnicities and religious groups because of potential terrorist threats. If you logically extrapolate that to a universe where there is a minority group that has the power to wipe out human society as we know it, you get what we see in the X-men books.

    3. Atheism isn't an impossibility. Everything in the Marvel Universe has a rational explanation - even magic and stuff like the Asgardians. The notion of 'God' as most people believe in is still neither proven nor disproven. Though I'm sure the existence of Thor and the Asgardians has given greater credence to Nordic myths in-universe.

Don't we see that Loki actually does have a cult devoted to him? And there are temples in Greece still dedicated to the Greek pantheon. Yeah, people just adjust their beliefa, which wouldn't be as hard as you'd think, especially as gods like Loki and Hercules make themselves known.

And Christians and Muslims would just tell you that these beings aren't real vods, but advanced aliens and things, which technically isn't wrong.

they've shown the downsides of that isolation. each place has been destroyed once or twice.

that's just a reality. if there were people with powers, this is how the government would react.

atheism is even easier. you can see "gods" for what they really are. none of them are worthy of worship.

Well, atheism is impossible, but not for those reasons. Human nature all but requires some individuals to construct an entity or concept of a higher authority and power. Some people stand next to the ocean simply because it makes them feel small, while others immerse fully, because they want to be part of something that's bigger than themselves. Only a few see themselves as the ocean's master or mistress. (Not even if you gave them hydro-molecular reality warping powers.) As long as that's the case, deism/theism will always endure.

Irony: They say the greatest trick that the Devil pulled was convincing Man that he doesn't exist. There are a couple of ways to do that. One is by commission. The other is by neglect. Now consider how TOAA operates in the Marvel Universe. He/She/It remains one of the multiverse's greatest secrets. Not even the embodiments of the multiversal cosmos -- not Eternity, or any of his predecessors -- ever mentions Him/Her/It. Ditto with the Living Tribunal. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Erm, well it's been discussed anecdotally by Thanos, Warlock, and Eternity.
