Default Live Action Avatar: The Last Airbender Series Coming To Netflix

    https://www.themarysue.com/atla-live...etflix-series/

I'm trying to think of any other instance of an animated show getting adapted into a live action series. This should be an interesting endeavour.

I love this. I have rewatched the show on netflix sooooo many times that i wouldn't mind a live action version.

IDK what the point of redoing the show is (unless they are going to adult it up a bit) but we will see.

The budget would have to be huge to get the bending right though.

    Im cautiously optimistic

(I hope they change the ending though)

I get the original creators are more directly involve with this but I really have no interest in a live-action Avatar adaption.

They're going to need almost GOT level special effects for the bending though. But at least the original creators are involved this time without "What a twist!" Shyamalan directing.

I rather see them tackle a new avatar than redo Aang or Korra's story.

Well, either Aang's or Korra's story works better as a series than a standalone film. So, there is that.

Same. I would much prefer a new animated series. On one hand it would be nice to see Avatar realized in live-action form properly but on the other why redo something that was done almost perfectly before in animation as a live-action? It’s not even a new live-action show set in the same universe as it’s source material(ala’ the upcoming Watchmen HBO show) they’re literally retreading territory that’s already been covered(poorly) in the Shyamalan film. So I guess they’re going to try and do things differently since you don’t want to be faithful to the original series to the point it’s a beat-for-beat rehash of what’s come before which hopefully means they know they’re going to have to put a new spin on things.

I guess my dream Avatar Kyoshi series will have to wait.

I'm on the same boat. I'm worried how they'll do Appa. Netflix original tend to have iffy CG.

I'm actually looking forward to this. I thought "More Kung Fu in the mainstream, yes please." I also thought "..and watch these fights blow IronFist out of the water".

I'm also in the camp of wanting it to have enough of a unique voice to merit live action. I don't remember how it ended, but they should just pick up from there.

Good Lord if Netflix has enough money to get the amazing sets and CGI needed to pull this off

Between this and the SAO series they're cooking up (which will also coincidentally have Asian leads), I'm curious which will need more budget.
