This is a pretty good article about all things Kitty though I feel it overlooks a number of glaring examples from Kitty's history.

Oh and I always thought it was pretty obvious that Kate Pryde from Days of Future Past and Rachel ended up being lovers right up to the point when Ray was transported into the 616-reality by the Phoenix Force.

and she is also making sure that Iceman stops misogynistic behavior and rhetoric pandering for acceptance within hetero-patriachical milieus. I find this actually pretty smart how Bendis ties his coming out together with Jean calling him out for being sexist. Iceman hides his own queerness and probably more feminine character trades by articulating sexism.

Well right up until DoFP took place she was happily married to Piotr who died during their escape and assault. I personally never thought of their relationship more than adopted/surrogate mother and daughter.

YEAH, I don't think that makes her a gay icon. While the end result was good, there are mixed feelings about how it took place. I'd like to see more to nominate her for that title personally. Storm is a gay icon.

I think we should maybe start a thread where we collect all the queer subtexts and homoeroticism written into the X-Men lore over the years. Chris Claremont and Bryan Singer in particular have been quite evident with their subtleties.

Anna Paquin was so beautiful as Rogue in X2, I can't take my eyes of her. I know everyone is a Rogue and Gambit shipper but Rogue was not all that bad with Bobby. Now I see, Marvel must have seen this scene in the movies deciding to make Bobby gay?

Yeah, Jeen's outing of Bobby has largely been acknowledged (even in-universe, by Adult Bobby) as poorly handled and intrusive in spite of her good intentions. She needs to get her Gay Icon Game going again, though.

I actually think all adult X-Women are gay icons by default, lol
