If you were rebooting the X-line.

If you were rebooting the time line for a NuXmen line and to deage the characters you had to take away a period of time from them whether seen or unseen. What would you take away from your fave's history and why?

I can start as an example.

Storm had several huge chunks of time in her life.
Thief, Goddess, X-man, Powerless.

For me this is a hard one but i would go with taking away her powerless period because she lived as a thief before her powers fully manifested. I think that would take a huge chunk of time off the character as well without totally changing her fundamental character.

I would wipe Logan's time as a Ronin. He's a really hard choice because i think almost all his period of significant time added something different. But i think he could still be balanced if that period of time in Japan didn't happen.

That's a good one with jean. Wiping out her entire time in a cocoon would really change the character quite a bit. Probably for the better.
The Scott one is good too because a lot of things happened while he was with Maddie. Which if Jean didn't "die" after phoenix Maddie probably would not have existed either way which could mean Rachel would be older than Cable, if he existed.

I would take away the Morlock Massacre. It is a retcon that doesn't really work for the character or the history. It would also have the benefit of eliminating the Trial of Gambit, which is among the worst the X-Men have ever looked.

I like the Sinister connection, but you could do that another way.

Completely agree on the trial of gambit. The way they abandoned him there when people had done far worse really left a bad taste in my mouth. That would also have the added benefit of changing morlock history as well, perhaps even Josephneto.

At one point, the giant purple death robots would be retired from public use or repurposed for military use against the endless alien invasions that happen on Earth. People would actually begin accepting mutants and feel some sympathy for them. Why would anyone in the right mind send a Sentinel towards a school to arrest a mutant child whose only crime is having the ability to fly to school?

I would also remove the dumb amounts of apocalyptic futures.

Sabretooth Hard to pick just one thing I'd get rid of.

1. He would never have any kind of relationship with Mystique. No Baby Mama story. No 2010 retcon coupling. NOTHING!!!!
2. Get rid of the last 15 years of his ultimate jobber & moron status. He'd remain the dangerous character he was in the 80's & 90's. Not the loser he is now.
3. Everything Loeb, Bendis, and Austen wrote.

Everything in Daniel Way's run would be nixed. He was the one who started the path of DP being a lame joke character.

Not really, i think that the Ronin part and what Weapon X did to him, basically what the Claremont/Miller mini and BWS stablished in the 80s and 90s, everything else is kind of optional to be honest, he is man of mystery the rest of his life can be left up to reader guest. And frankly i could do without Logan being a sociophatic serial killer that has no agency for most of his life, wicth is what Way did to him.

the point is that she was absent for almost 14 years after his run and only resurrected until recently.

I'd take away all periods of Polaris being treated mainly as Havok's girlfriend.

Or if it had to be a specific period, then Claremont's use of her. Runner-up, her time in space.

I think it's possible to salvage things Claremont did and make them into something actually good with Lorna, but if cutting them also means getting rid of the Havok stuff, then I'm for it.
