Default The Character Creation League! (Sign-Up/Discussion)

Welcome to the Character Creation League! This will be a League-style tournament where you submit original characters and items to draft into a team and pit them against all other teams!

    RULES
    1) You may submit up to Ten Characters, Ten Items, and One Arena.

    2) All concepts must be Original. You can make up brand new ones, but preferably these would be characters/items you’ve actually used in some previous work of yours, be it a short story, RPG, Character Creation Tournament, etc.

    3) No fan fiction versions of published characters or other people’s characters. If you must do a “fan fic” character, at least have it be an OC within the context of another work, and not just a slightly different version of an established character.

    4) Items should preferably not just be things like, "Hat that gives you every power from a video game franchise." Try to come up with original abilities for it, even if you use existing franchises for comparisons.

    5) Please post each Character, Item (or group of related items), and Arena entry in its own post, for ease of collecting and categorizing. Please label appropriately. All entries will be posted to this thread.

    6) Donut Steel.

    POWER RANKINGS/COST
Every Character or Item’s Cost is determined by its Rank. Ranks are determined by the following: Can your character (or a normal person with the item) defeat an established character no more than 50/50 in a Khazan Arena? Your character can effectively have any power you wish, as long as they do not break the Tier limit you want to set them at.

Do NOT attempt to sneak in overpowered characters or items on a technicality. For example, “My character has all the powers of the Beyonder in his Cosmic Form, but takes five minutes to activate his Cosmic Form, so Captain America can kick his ass in Khazan, so he should be Tier 1” is not an acceptable character entry. Even if your character does have some “wind up” to their power, for the sake of a Tier judgment, their full power is considered when deciding.

To qualify for a Tier, your character must break even with:

TIER 1 – MCU Captain America using a machine gun.

    TIER 2 – MCU Spider-Man with a grenade launcher.

TIER 3 – Movie Professor X in the Avengers 1 Iron Man suit (Mark VII).

TIER 4 – Movie Apocalypse with bullet-dodging reaction speed.

TIER 5 – DCEU Superman with Magneto’s Helmet.

    BUILDING YOUR TEAM
All players will be given 40 points to create their team. After every match, 5 more points will be given to each team to spend on further additions to their group.

Each team must have a minimum of four characters to start with (post-fusion, pre-cloning). There is no character maximum.

No single character with all their items can be worth more than 20 points.

Characters and most items, once picked, cannot be picked again. Certain items, however, may be selectable by more than one team where noted.

A Draft date and method will be determined upon interest assessment.

    MATCHES
This will be played more like a regular tournament, with players voting on match-ups, which will all be presented in a single thread. Every team will get to fight every other team and the official winner will be the one that has the most victories overall. Submitting strategies ahead of time won’t be necessary. I won’t insist on debate, but you’ll get a couple days to do so if you like before moving on to the next round.

Hmmmm... At first I was going to say the MunchKING, and God-Taran and such were too powerful. But I think I can remember a few OCs to help your tournament out...

DCEU Superman is what? Smallville? Man of Steel?
The MunchKING is Back! And he is AWSOME!

I mean, even if you only have one OC, you can still qualify. We'll figure something out.

    ELEMENTAL KEYS

Description: The Elemental Keys are a set of Conceptual Weapons which grant the user an elemental magic power, a super power thematically related to said element, and the ability to temporarily fuse themselves with other wielders of the Keys. The Key normally takes the form of a small medallion, but when a user accepts the weapon, it de-materializes and fuses to the users soul/essence/mind.

    Cost: 4 per Key

    Common Features:
-The Key's bind themselves to the one chosen to wield it. It cannot be forcibly removed, save by very specific soul-rip style techniques, since the weapon merges itself to the user on a spiritual level. Even if a Key is removed, it will not work for anyone else.
-Each Key can create and manipulate it's chosen classical element on the level of Aang (non-Avatar state).
-Two Key Bearers can Fuse together to become one entity.
    -Only one Key per user.

    Fusion Rules:
-This entity combines both their elemental powers and their super powers, reaching Avatar Aang levels of elemental control and creation.
-This Fusion creates strain on the minds and spirits of both users, meaning the Fusion won't last very long. For League purposes, the Fusion will last ten minutes under optimal conditions.
-The Fusion also requires both minds to coordinate properly; if the minds are in conflict, then the Fusion will have stilted movement, lose coordination with their elemental control, and their super powers might not function to full capacity. Worse, the Fusion may split early.
-The Fusion can also be broken apart through sheer physical or mental damage build up being inflicted upon the user. Sufficient damage to knock a Fusion unconscious or a lethal blow will split the Fusion.
-When forcibly split, both entities in the Fusion will be exhausted, addled, and retain the injuries of the Fused form, albeit half as bad.
-When willingly split, both entities in the Fusion may still feel tired from exertion, but will not be addled. Injuries can be willingly shifted or split between the two.

    THE KEYS
Earth Key - Can create and control various forms of earth (dirt, sand, clay, rock, etc). Physical Strength on the level of DCEU Superman (durability not included).
Fire Key - Can create and control fire. Can cast illusions like Marvel's Mastermind.
Lightning Key - Can create and control electricity. Speed on the level of DCEU Superman.
Metal Key - Can create and control various metals. Physical Invulnerability on the level of DCEU Superman.
Water Key - Can create and control various forms of water (ice, mist, water). Can shape shift and recover damage like Clayface.
Wind Key - Can create and control air. Can fly with DCEU Superman speed (but does not have super speed perception/reflexes).

    Weaponeer-Forged Melee Weapon of Choice

Description: The Weaponeer has the power to summon replicas of any weapon she has forged, and can bind them to others. She will only create and grant melee weapons.

    Cost: 2

    Features:
-The Weaponeer's weapons have the durability of Marvel 616 Adamantium. They appear to be made of steel, but are in fact made of an unknown metallic substance.
-A weapon bound to a user can be summoned or unsummoned at will.
-If a weapon is lost or stolen, it can be summoned back to the user's hand at will.
-A weapon bound to a user cannot be used by anyone else, regardless of means. They cannot be manipulated by another person's telekinesis, elemental powers, etc. If an enemy manages to manually pull the weapon out of the user's hand and tries to use it themselves, it will automatically vanish.
-The weapon can be thrown to hit a ranged target. This is useful for some wielders, who can throw the weapon, resummon it to their hand, throw it again, etc.

Requirements: The Weaponeer will only create and give weapons to those she deems to have a "warrior's heart." Soldiers, warriors, and dedicated martial artists tend to qualify.

Note: This item can be picked by multiple teams, but only one per team.

    FAIRY GUNS

Description: A pair of Glock-style pistols alchemically enchanted to be effective against spirits and elementals. Used by the psychic assassin Usagi.

    Cost: 3

    Features:
    -Never runs out of ammo.
-The bullets travel at light speed.
-The guns will bind to a user, allowing them to be summoned/desummoned at will. Ergo, if the guns are lost/stolen, they can be returned to the users hands at will.
-The guns are unbreakable except through magic or transmutation effects.
-Bullets are intangible to start with, and will phase through all physical materials and mundane energy barriers until they reach the target.
-Inflicts damage on spirits, ghosts, spectral entities, elementals, intangible entities, etc., the way a normal bullet would impact a physical body.
--For shape-shifting creatures such as elementals, the bullets will inflict a lingering wound, but will only be an effective kill shot if the target is struck by many of the bullets, or if the bullet manages to impact on an elemental core.
--In the case of a "set form" being like a human ghost, the bullet will damage their body as it would a human body, i.e., shooting a ghost in the heart or head will "kill" it.
-When used against a physical being, the bullet will materialize into a solid form once it enters their body, acting as a normal bullet.

-The bullets can be blocked by magical and psychic barriers.
-The bullets will only be as effective against a physical body as they normally would be, meaning that a bullet-proof character will not be harmed by them. In this case, the bullet will fail to manifest inside the too-durable target and vanish.

    Requirements: None.

ZERO METAL MELEE WEAPON OF YOUR CHOICE

Description: A melee weapon forged with Zero Metal, a rare ore which has the ability to neutralize supernatural attributes.

    Cost: 4

    Features:
-Zero Metal neutralizes all forms of magic, psychic, supernatural, elemental, spiritual, and superhuman attacks and powers upon direct contact. As such, it can punch through all forms of supernatural, magic, chi, elemental, and superhuman forms of shielding.
-It will not neutralize "powers" that are still within the bounds of a character's realistic physical biology. For example, it will neutralize Superman's strength by canceling the energies that allow him to use physics-breaking strength. However, he will still have as much strength as his normal musculature allows. It will cancel the Thing's superhuman strength, but it won't return him to human form, so he will still have his rocky skin durability.
-Powers will return to the target as soon as they break contact with the metal.
-This can also protect the user from a wide variety of attacks, assuming they can get the weapon between themselves and the attacker.
-It cannot be manipulated by supernatural energies such as telekinesis, elemental control, magic, etc.
-It similarly is non-magnetic and non-conductive.
-Zero Metal is slightly less durable than titanium.
-This can even damage intangible entities, if their intangibility is the result of superhuman energies, phasing powers, or magic.
-It cannot be directly teleported, meaning it will be left behind by those attempting to teleport with it. It can be moved through portals, however, as long as it doesn't touch the edge of the portal (in which case it will forcibly shut the portal down).

Requirements: If a superhuman wishes to use a Zero Metal weapon, they must make sure a thick amount of material is between them and the metal, or their own powers will be neutralized. If using a katana, for example, a wrapped hilt and wooden handle while wearing a glove is best. If using a spear, having only the blade be made of Zero Metal is best.

Note: This item can be picked by multiple teams, but only one per team.
