    28. The Stuff (1985)
    29. Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
    30ab. Critters (1986) / Critters 2 (1988)

I can't remember if I saw both of these as a kid or just the second one, because the only memory I retain of it is the sequel's giant Critter Ball. They're a cute, occasionally fun, couple of movies. The concept of the Critters as escaped intergalactic convicts being chased by alien bounty hunters is enough to make the movies not feel like Gremlins clones in any but the most superficial sense.

30cd. Horror of Dracula (1958) / Return of the Living Dead (1985)

These, on the other hand, I've seen a lot of times. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing are absolute magic in their first of many times portraying Dracula and Van Helsing for Hammer Studios. And Return is the best zombie horror comedy that doesn't include a character named Shaun.

30e. Dawn of the Dead (1978)

And this one, I'm seeing for the first time. Due to the rights holder being a pain in the ass, this King of Zombie Movies has been tough to see for a long time. It doesn't stream anywhere, doesn't get shown on cable, there've been no recent DVD/BD releases, and the previous ones are out of print and expensive. As a result, I've let this one pass year after year, then finally decided I waited long enough and hunted down a copy whose price I could bear.

And, it's great, whaddaya want me to say. The last thing anyone needs in the year of our lord 2018 is for one more yahoo to confirm that, yes, the movie everyone considers the pinnacle of zombie movies is, in fact, very good.

Sorry I missed out on this feature which sounds like a lot of fun, but I plan to participate next year, god willing and the creek don't rise.

30e. Dawn of the Dead (1978)

Okay, time to wrap this puppy up:

31a. Shadow of the Vampire (2000)

This movie posits that director F.W. Murnau used a real vampire to make his silent-film classic Nosferatu. John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe are great as Murnau and the vampire, respectively. They're both amoral and ruled by their obsessions. But the movie as a hole just didn't leave that much of an impression on me.

    31b. Evil Ed (1995)

This was a weird one. A Swedish horror comedy about a mild-mannered film editor, tasked with editing a long-running American slasher franchise called Loose Limbs to pass Swedish censors. In the process (and at an alarmingly-fast rate), the movies drive him insane and cause him to start hallucinating horror scenarios all around him. To cope, he becomes a slasher villain himself, and is suddenly able to dispatch armed robbers and policeman with ease. Worth seeing just for how whacked-out it is.

31c. The Old Dark House (1932)

A favorite from Universal. I saw it for the first time a few years ago and have rewatched it every October since. To go into details would do the movie a disservice, as there really isn't much of a plot. It's carried by the perfect atmosphere of pre-Code horror provided by director James Whale, and the excellent performances of Melvyn Douglas, Charles Laughton, Ernest Thesiger, Boris Karloff, and the rest of the cast.

    31d. Halloween 2 (1981)

    Eh. It was on TV.

This has been fun once again, thanks to Jared for keeping the tradition going.

I saw a lot of films I normally wouldn't have, thanks to Joe Bob Briggs' Last Drive-In. And while a lot of them stunk, I still appreciate the addition to my horror-film history. And I knocked out over a dozen titles from my goal of seeing all the movies covered by Cinemassacre's Monster Madness. So, a successful year all around.

First year of the 31 Days &Nights of Halloween Edition that i participated.
My progress was 15 Horror Movies watched,i thought i would watch 31 movies but even so i watched plenty of Horror Movies. The themes of the Horror movies i watched was random but even so i was surprised that there was still some variety in the Themes of the Horror movies i watched.
Hoping for next year getting closer to watch 31 Horror movies that i did this year.

    October 31st. 44- Dracula Untold (2014) 45- The Mummy (1932) 46- Splatter (2009) 47- The ABCs of Death (2012)

Dracula Untold is just a meh medieval dark superhero origin. Shorter than I remembered it being, and i think the lack of material is the biggest problem. There's not enough impact to events or build up of characters. There's a hilarious (if one notices) edit where a kid is apparently teleported from the top of a castle on a mountain to the back of horse waiting below in just seconds. To make the movie better I imagine it as a distant sequel to the Hobbit and LOTR movies in my headcanon. Mordor would have been roughly where Transylvania is now, it kinda makes sense.

The original version of the-mummy-movie-poster-1932-1020293684.jpg"]The Mummy[/URL] surprised in how it's not about a Mummy lurking in a tomb and strangling people. Boris Karloff's Imhotep is basically an evil mind wizard trying to get the reincarnation of his mistress back, and he looks normal (well, like Karloff) for most of it.

Splatter was originally a series of webisodes. Aparrently the gimmick was that between episodes you voted on who would live and die in the following. Without that, there's no much to it, it's just a short film with Corey Feldman's rockstar ghost/revenant killing stupid people one by on in his mansion. It all looks very cheap. It's only 30 minutes long and if you told me it took only 3 hours to film I would believe it. Tony Todd is in it, and Joe Dante of all people directed it. It's so short I'm not sure to even count it, but I watched the Sleepy Hollow cartoon special one year, so this should make it.

The ABCs of Death is an anthology with a segment for each letter of the alphabet, with different directors from all over the world. Quality and tone varies wildly. There's a couple from Japan that are just so fucked up and perverse I wondered if they were actually meant to satirize the culture from an outsider's perspective...but I have no idea. The intro says every director was given total artistic freedom and in hindsight I'm not sure that was a good decision. There were some with interesting ideas, or good twists or jokes. I'm somewhat interested in the second installment, but hopefully it has a bit more cohesion.

Anyway, whew, 47 (or 46.5) movies and I didn't skip a day! I'm pretty sure that's a record for me. I didn't get to finish the Sleepaway Camp, Phantasm, or Hatchet series yet. But they'll be something to watch between now and next year.

Thanks to all for participating. Good night boys and ghouls!

    Talking Thanks For this Tradition!!!

I just wanted to say to Thanks for this Annual Event as always!

Honestly this helps me not only in adding to my list of movies of 150 I try to watch for my other contest, but it also pushes me like I hear from others here to, to Finally watch movies I have on my life list for Ages but always put off.

It gives a good sense of community and sharing that I can share those movies I watched and show what I have experienced with others this Halloween season and what I have added to my life experiences of media and story from them. Allot of the movies on my list I have want to watch for ages while some others are classics I have watched before and will watch again and again cause they are so Good!

I got to watch the 1st 4 Hellraiser Series Movies, 1-2 again while 3-4 I finally watch them un-edit, I did not watch after the 4th cause by reviews I have seen of them the series sadly goes WAY off course from their and gets bad. =p

The Omen Series I finally got a chance to experience which was a trip of Great 1970's Horror Movies, The Exorcist most of Its Legacy Finally, been working up to finally see that True Classic that the 1st movie was but seeing the Directors Cut just made it a full and true experience! But I also Really wanted to finally see Exorcist II: The Heretic finally cause of what I have seen in other reviews of it of its unique take and amazing cinematography and music!

I finally Saw the The Crow, the complete unedit versions of Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight that I have seen so many times on TV, The Ninth Gate was a More Likable movie then I thought, other classics like The Prophecy, Stigmata, The Seventh Sign, Rosemary's Baby, The Original Wicker Man and FINALLY Coming~Back to a Classic Anime Horror/Adventure I have not seen in Ages and Unedited with a New Dub ~ Vampire Hunter D!

This was a Great Year and I made 31 Movies with much more easy then I did Last year!

This was ALLOT of Fun and I was glad to share it with my fellow CBR Fans and experience ALL of your lists as well, they where a joy to see what each and every one of you Experienced this Halloween Season!
