You seem really adamant at defending the Purifiers.
But you can't just act like any criminal act is just as bad as the other, no matter who does it and for what reason.
Anyway, great episode. Jace's and Andy's convictions are now stronger than ever. And the promo indicates Lauren is gonna get more ruthless too. This is gonna get bloody real soon....
Indeed, it will. While I would love to see the Purifiers completely stomped out, the problem is that the Purifiers are just the most militant/violent/openly genocidal of the anti-mutant bigots we've seen thus far. The real question is how many within the wider in-universe human society share the Purifiers' beliefs and attitudes, but aren't willing to act on them for one reason or another. They can be politicians and/or media figures spreading anti-mutant propaganda, businesspeople profiting from designing or building anti-mutant technology, teachers in schools or parents themselves teaching kids to hate and fear mutants, doctors using biomedical technology to suppress the X-Gene, etc. Once the Purifiers do get stomped out like they deserve to be, what happens to the rest of human society? Do they get stomped out, too, even if they're noncombatants?
The spider is always on the hunt.
The biggest problem I have with this is show is that, like in comic books, the characters act powerless to influence the media narrative despite, ya know, the internet?
It's not hard to wonder why the public is against mutants when even the good guys don't bother to try to explain themselves. Pre 'net, sure, heroes were vulnerable to being slandered in public because they had no forum on which to fight back. These days, the issue should be where they fight back, online (stay away from 4chan)
I know it wouldn't solve everything, but it would help mitigate the damage
When the inner circle broke out Rebecca from that mental facility pro-mutant support was on an all time. There were pro mutant rallies and protests all over the country. The heroes could leverage this support but just don't. Pro mutant causes don't have a prominent role in the story for whatever reason.
My complaints are the same as always really, the mutant underground suck.
They can't take on one compound of hicks without the inner circle?
Reeva decimated the old inner circle commanders and forged a new path, the actual differences between the inner circle and the underground characters are so pathetically thin it doesn't make any sense not to just combine them and make the show about forming a mutant haven. Basically doing an odd riff on the Utopia storyline.
The underground now want to destroy the inner circle because they're more productive and effective than they are???
The arguments against the inner circle never work because no matter what the inner circle have done, the humans they're fighting to get away from have done worse.
