That dateline is 4 years old, almost 5. My google-fu finds no record that Stewart followed through.
Sounds like he gave the expected celebrity liberal answer to hosts on The View.

Besides, "fighting" Trump doesn't answer my hypothetical...what does he think of how bizarre Biden is?

It has taken awhile but even a few of my liberal friends are embarrassed by him. I would normally say "a few friends" is anecdotal except there are plenty of National Polls to indicate that is not the case. Trump for all his middle school antics has Biden in spades when it comes to policy. The next 3yrs should prove interesting.

I guess I misread your post because I thought your inference was in regards to Trump, not Biden. My mistake.

I have no idea if he followed through or not but it's not quick or easy to become a US citizen; it takes the average person 7 years but the actual process is only 6 months to a year. The prep work can be a challenge if you're not disciplined about it and/or have the time/money. There was something floating around last year about Stewart being asked to become a citizen in order to run for US Senate. My hunch would be he has not due to the timeframe and because it is not on any of his official bio pieces. He has the time and money to make it relatively easy for himself.

It looks like he fundraised for Biden since Joe is a known Trekkie. Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew, George Takei & More Tapped For Joe Biden’s Star Trek-Themed Event.

He also refers to himself as a socialist and is a member of the Labour Party.

Regardless, that should answer you about what he thinks about Biden.

I'm continually amazed how one can enjoy star trek in any form...and think President Trump was a good call.

This isn't something with a loosely defined social structure like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, so it's not like those memes about if you're conservative you serve Mordor or are a Death Eater...progressive policy was literally baked into the very fabric of the show from the very start, to the point that its impossible to separate them. It's a presentation of the future where everyone has equal rights regardless of their age, gender, skin color, national origin, sexual orientation and even actual race(ie. Vulcans, Klingons etc.), where money holds no power or sway and everyone has their basic needs met. Star Trek is the antithesis of American Conservatism in every way.

Maybe they ignore the themes in favor of just focusing on the nifty sci-fi stuff?

The simple answer is METAPHOR. If you cloak everything in metaphor people are free to take from it what they want. Quite brilliant really. I remember having this exact conversation with someone awhile back on these boards because they wondered how conservatives could possibly enjoy The X-Men. Of course the problems start when you get writers who feel constrained by the metaphor or resent having to use it.

...it's not metaphorical...it's right out in the open.

Uhura kissing Kirk: Progressive. Uhura being a bridge officer on the flag ship of the Federation: Progressive. Heck, just the fact of a black actress being included in the cast of a prime time network show: Progressive.
Sulu? Same thing, an asian man on prime time was progressive.
Chekov? Yup, a Russian not being a villain was progressive.

It's mentioned several times in Voyage Home that they live in a post scarcity society and money is a relic of the barbaric past...progressive. This theme would be carried on in the Next Generation with the conflicts with Ferengi boiling down to Capitalism is bad. I could go on more but it's very evident that the shows themes and values were clearly progressive...and if any conservatives can't see that then well, I've got a bridge to sell them in New York, and if that won't do then I also have some beautiful mountain top property in Kansas or a beach front bungalow in Illinois that might interest them.

I can look at the Southern Border crisis, the Foreign policy debacle of Afghanistan and likely looming Ukraine, rapid inflation and other factors and wonder how one thinks any of this is Progressive? How is it any good for the masses? Heck thanks to the rapid inflation the once touted magical $15 hour isn't enough to still get enough folks off the couch and working. If you've bought into the idea that Conservatisms means, broadly the opposite of the things you listed then you don't understand the concept and have just bought into spin.
I could agree with you that there are some fringe elements, just like in the liberal platform, who are extreme but they don't represent the heart of Conservatism. Acting like Star Trek is devoid of basic humanity to anyone not Liberal/Progressive/Socialist is a weird idea to hold frankly. Speaks more to that persons own biases.

It is the opposite of everything I listed...and there is no way to argue it any other way.

Find me a single Conservative politician in the US that says that money is bad and that the basic needs of food and shelter and health care should be provided to all for free. Because that's the society of Star Trek.

Find a single Conservative politician in the US that says the rights of homosexuals need to be protected and should be the same as anyone else regardless of the sexual identity or orientation. Again, that's Star Trek.

Find a single Conservative politician in the US that is publicly supportive of diversity and does their best to protect and promote it...because that's what Star Trek is about, and not metaphorically either it's said out right in clear language, "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations."

To be fair, he was peaking on "American Conservatism," i.e. Trump. I'd say there's a difference between being a Conservative/Republican and being a Trump supporter. The things you pointed to are not progressive at all, which is why it's pushed by "moderate" Democrats (who are really Conservatives.)

Progressive ideas would be universal healthcare, UBI, free education, etc. which very much in line with Trek values and not things Republicans are for, as far as I know.

Even for all the spin Democrat Liberals are as Capitalistic as the next politician. Not even Bernie Sanders. During the 2020 run it was reported his Net Worth was nearly $2million!! Granted he wants to give it all away for free but come on. This isn't a Liberal/Conservative thing so much as it is a platform thing. Nancy Pelosi...look her up "Nancy Pelosi Net Worth" punch it into ole Google search. spoilers:
    $196 million
    end of spoilers

How about this article from August 2021? It is a 3min read, get past the Tony Perkins(non politician paragraph) and you will see MORE than ONE. Hint, end of story. Now why don't you know this?? Simple, Rachel Maddow, Norah O'Donnell and Wolf Blitzer don't want you to know. It doesn't fit the narrative they push "GOP hate gays!"

See the above politicians for starters.

GOP is very likely not what you think it is or is becoming.

Again to be fair, they weren't asking about net worth.

Well, it basically says they gave up because it was a losing battle.

    From the same article:

"But on transgender rights issues in particular, fierce opposition within GOP ranks persists. The Trump-era Education Department eliminated guidance that sought to extend protections around the treatment of transgender students. And Trump himself issued an executive order, via tweet, prohibiting transgender individuals from serving in the military"
