i think as time went on they highlighted things like kirk butting heads with admiralty or what not to lean into his semi rogueish reputation, but yeah during TOS there were times he went full boyscout. Although that kind of moralizing hero could be attributed to writing conventions of the era

i just watched Generations last week and he was literally shrugging off Picard's starfleet appeals lol

Kirk had also just lived ~100 years in an extradimensional paradise. You'd assume he'd need some coaxing and reasoning.

But it didn't feel like 100 years to Kirk. Each morning, he woke up and felt like he had just arrived.

Yeah, likely Picard would have been stuck in his Christmas morning had it not been for Guinan's "echo" (Which kind of begs the question, shouldn't there be echos of Picard/Kirk/Soran in there too?)

Yes, I knew I wasn't the only one who must've reached that conclusion.

Maybe the echo of Guinan was the only important one to Picard at that time

OUCH! This has to sting if you are living outside of the USA or Canada.

'Star Trek: Discovery' leaves Netflix just ahead of its new season

Star Trek Discovery season 4 has premiered. I feel bad for UK and EU fans as they cannot watch it anymore on Netflix within 2 days.

No spoilers but looks like season 4 is still same old , same old. lots of explosions and save the world again plot line.

If they are making EU fans wait this long I guess this is the final season?

It's Star Trek; that's what they do.

    Just watched the season premier.

Wow. They doubled down on everything from last season and tossed in what they think passes for Whedon speak delivered at Gilmore Girls speed.

You don't watch this show. It's fired at you from a T-shirt gun while member berries are flashed on the jumbotron (hey look, a tribble!) and faux inspirational music is cranked up to eleven.

    Then a planet blew up.

Wonder if they'll up the ante by destroying one of Trek's better known worlds.

Romulus of course is already gone; Ni'var would just be kind of rehashing the Kelvin stuff; Qo'nos already lost a moon, probably not Earth (although it will probably be threatened at some point). Ferignar? Risa?

In the first episode of Season Two on TNG, "The Child", Troi is impregnated and then gives birth to the alien that impregnated her. This completely reminds me of Avengers #197-200, where Carol Danvers is raped by Marcus and then gives birth to Marcus.

In "Elementary, Dear Data", Moriarty is the first sentient holodeck character, a precursor to The Doctor on Voyager.
