Default Need help with Marvel Detectives!!

So I know that Dc has some great detectives like Batman, Ralph Dibney and Question, but who are Marvel's top detectives. I only can think of Jessica Jones and Jamie Madrox doing real detective work. Are they the top of the line for Marvel? I've heard Bishop and Sage have that background, but only in one story for Sage where I've seen this and Bishop over a few books (yet not exactly what hes known for). Who would you consider to be Marvel's top 3 detectives?

He's not thought of that way, but Daredevil definitely has done detective work in his stories. To a lesser extant Cage and Moon Knight.

Colleen Wing, Misty Knight and Angela del Toro have all been private investigators I believe.

    There is Dakota North, too.
But Marvel doesn't have a "best detective" like Batman or Chimp.

If Night Raven still exists in 616 continuity he would be a contender, having been a great masked detective in the 20's and 30's.

Pretty much anytime Marvel doesn't know what to do with a character they will make them a detective. (Black Cat in the 90's) that way they don't have to bother coming up with a separate life outside of crime fighting. (Careers, friendships, school, etc.) So much easier to keep it all in house.

I loved when they made Kate Bishop a PI considering how typical a profession that's become for Marvel women .

So no characters really that have that as a serious profession then....mostly tacked on as an after thought?

Thank you everyone. This was very helpful.

I mean, Jessica Jones has it far more as a profession than Batman does.
    Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

Interested in reading Daredevil? Not sure what to read next? Why not check out the Daredevil Book Club for some ideas?

Jessica Jones, Dakota North, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing are all bona fide PIs and have been pretty much all along.

Why do I get the feeling you wanted this answer all along?

Let’s ask a follow up question? How exactly is Batman a detective? He has mostly lost his roots in The Spirit, and nowadays his detective role consists mostly of him looking at evidence and either just knowing where to go next or dropping involved exposition about how he had already forseen this and preemptively solved the mystery. In other words ‘are his famous detective skills just tagged on as a conceit?’ Nobody really wants superheroes to be detectives do they?

Would Luke Cage be considered a detective?
