What if the “first” team is a bunch of badasses who’re immediately killed or apprehended, necessitating their leader to get the original band back together to save them?

Like START with an X-Force of Kwannon, Bishop, Thunderbird, and Wolfsbane, led by Wolverine.

Then have him collect the classics: Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Cyclops.

The thought I had when I first started thinking of this would be, say they want to introduce the X-Men a la Spider-Man, in a guest spot ahead of their own film. I'd have some sort of O5 show up – though, honestly, might tweak the line-up or expand the numbers a bit – in a different movie. And then have their first movie be a riff on All-New, All-Different; the team from their first appearance gets captured, a new team is rallied to rescue them. Again, I'd play lose with the specific line-up.

Adding a second woman to the classic starting five would be a neat touch, although I'd consider Polaris instead of Firestar (or Storm, or Rogue, or even a more out of the box choice like Frenzy).

Haven't looked over all the responses, though I'm sure most people here have suggested the 1975 team with a few of Claremont's own creations, with some suggestions for the 1963 team, since those though would anyone here agree with the suggestion of incorporating some of the New X-Men members from 2006?
