Your starting lineup for the X-Men in the MCU?

Interesting. How would they play in?

Carol's given a military liaison to acclimate her to a new secret identity in 2019, but -somehow- she's ambushed by a young woman who can go toe-to-toe with her.

Carol wakes in the hospital to doctors saying she's lost her powers. She leads a manhunt for the woman who ambushed her... the US government can't afford a rogue superhuman with Carol's power levels.

Meanwhile, the thief arrives at Xavier's Institute looking for help controlling the power and persona she'd stolen.

You really need the rest? It stirs in Valerie Cooper and ends on Asteroid M.

I know this gets hate but I’d start the MCU X-Men smack in the middle, with both Xavier and Jean dead, Magneto missing and presumed dead, Mystique absent, Cyclops retired, and Wolverine “away on a mission”.

Main focus of the movie would be as follows

Prof. X has Cyclops and Jean Grey recruit Storm, Beast, Iceman and Nightcrawler. They team up to stop a government sponsored Sentinel initiative. Along the way the find some mutants held captive by the same government (Angel and Psylocke).

The branch running the Sentinel program would be Weapon X and at the end of the movie Wolverine shows up to "infiltrate" the X-Men on Weapon X's orders. He is secretly there to kill the Professor and the X-Men. At the end of the movie we see Wolverine attacking the team and cut to black.

It's basically Ultimate X-Men but with a few changes to save Magneto for later.

I’ve thought about this extensively and I would totally race swap a little, but keep it in line with the comics and intro the O5 first.

Professor X- a mixed half black/white middle aged man late 30s early 40s
Scott- no changes
Jean- no changes
Hank or Henry- a Latino American probably of Mexican decent Henry Martinez
Bobby- no changes
Warren- no changes
Round it out with Moira somewhere in the mix, and Storm intro to the franchise at the end of the film though she would already have been seen in BP2.

No more Magneto. He's been the villain (or in cahoots with one) in every single film. And no more Mystique. I would want Prof X to be minimal as well. He's necessary for the plot, but then again Scott and Storm are as well and they were completely absent. I wouldn't start out with a big team. I'd have them appear in different films and then build up like the Avengers. Just no solo films.
1. Storm in a Black Panther film, later recruted in the second X-Men film when they need back-up after a failed mission.
2. Rogue in an Avengers film as a villain so she can get her powers asap, later recruted.
This would create world building and tie them to other people.
As for the first team:
1. Cyclops
2. Jean Grey
3. Angel
4. Havok
5. Polaris
I would almost leave out Jean because it's too quick to put the main character of a franchise they're going to reboot, but she's integral to the stories.
And they should steer away from making it a crowded school, and start off with as little characters as possible.

There are so many ways they could go with this. I think the priority would be to get away from the Magneto/Professor X relationship as the focus. They should also bring Wolverine later on to build up the hype and when they introduce Mystique keep her as a mutant terrorist.

Storm should be the first mutant we see in BP2, Kitty Pryde in Spider-Man, Professor X in Doctor Strange 2 and Rogue ultimately in Captain Marvel 2.

The first movie:
Professor X has his school and secret team, as usual. Mid 50's.
Jubilee gets recruited, she's our POV character. She's 18 or 19.
Beast and Forge work as tech and science support in the mansion. Late 30's
The team:
Cyclops is a capable leader. early 30's.
Iceman. Gay and comic relief. Mid 20's.
Gambit. The charming outsider. Late 20's.
Psylocke. Morally ambiguous sexy british telepath. Late 20's.
Colossus. Heart and muscles of the team. Mid 30's.
Rogue. Former villain, southern charm. Mid 20's.

The mission would be to fight the Shadow King in Africa. Storm gets recruited by the end of the movie. She's the strong regal goddess we all love from the comics. Late 20's.

Colossus - import him from Deadpool but also cast someone to portray his human form
