    Default Madman!!

Madman by Michael and Laura Allred was one of the great and creative comics done in our time. This was a fun and unique creation where they slipped fun comic stuff into every issue and page. At a time when every comic was striving to be the most dramatic and the most intense, Madman was striving ... well... it wasn't striving for a darn thing. It was a laid back smorgishboard of senseless fun and visual delights that went nowhere, and that was the good part.

It seemed like a sideway Rocky Horror Picture Show, with loving rendering sprinkled with comic magic

This particular issue has a flip show on the corner. Obviously these were books designed to be read and tossed into the corner to be read again, and not collected. But collect them I did.

In my opinion. this book displayed the highest level of cartooning since Ditko's Spider-Man

I will say that this article doesn't, IMO, give enough attention to Laura. Madman was a Laura and Michael collaboration

Any idea where this appeared (aside from the zipcomic website)?
Of those I can recognize are:
    * Too Much Coffee Man (guy with coffee cup on his head)
    * Toxic Avenger (green bumpy guy with mop)
    * The Maxx (purple-and-yellow guy with big white teeth, created by Sam Keith)
    * Mr. Spook (with yellow trident, from Tales of the Beanworld)
    * Felix the Cat (black cat with yellow bag of tricks)
but is the "jungle girl" Julie from The Maxx or a different female?

It's from War of the Independents. It's a mini that's been coming out sporadically for several years now. An issue will show up after a couple year delay, and the storyline progresses. The delays are maddening, but it's been a great way to see all these indie characters, some of whom haven't been seen in years.

That issue involved all the more humorous heroes, and had a Bone vs Cerebus arm wrestling match I never knew I wanted to see 'til I saw it.

I never have read any Madman and I was an active 90s reader.

Then it‘s time to rectify this immediately.
