Default Integration of mutants into MCU TV/Netflix/Disney Play

There will probably be a lot of cancellations once the Disney streaming service, Disney Play, launches, but not everything. Plus, there'll be new shows.

Which MCU shows should include mutants, which ones, and how should they go about putting them in? Agents of Shield does a good job of mixing anything (Ghost Rider, Nick Fury, inhumans, kree), but most other shows just stick to one characters or established team ups, and keep in mind that films and shows can't really mix (yet) (i.e. Daredevil/Black Widow)

Honestly my biggest concern is the paywall. If they think I'm paying to watch Agents of Shield or even Daredevil, they got another thing coming.

So ya Agents of SHIELD, as well Runaways, most likely they may make something like X-factor its own tv show. Also with Film stars getting their own shows maybe that is how the mix happens.

I haven't LIKED any TV shows that Marvel has made so far so my anticipation level for their output is very low. Star Wars is another matter entirely thou - i'm really looking forward to that.

As consumers we are allowing this. While we are prepared to pay for more than one streaming service because of exclusive content we encourage the intellectual property owners to use their property as leverage. My hope is that many others will think the way you expressed and refuse to pay for yet another streaming provider unless they can get access to everything on one platform.

Our own best interests would be served if we all demanded mainstream content to be available across all platforms and then pay for more specialist content. Superhero properties are mainstream and being used as exclusive content and as such we should resist this. However people don’t act in the best interest of everyone, so we will continue to see the fragmentation of television and the rise and fall of platforms until we reach some form of equilibrium that nobody considers ideal but is bearable.

Daredevil already is behind a paywall.

Anyway, it's probably moot for me because often these services don't exist around here.

Regarding price, Bob Iger already said that Disneyplay will be cheaper than Netflix: “Iger confirmed the Disney Play price will be less than Netflix’s lower subscription tiers, which land somewhere between $8 and $14.”. Apparently the reason for this is that Disneyplay will mainly focus on streaming movies and shows that Disney already produces, and it won’t invest as much on creating shows only for the streaming platform.

One way or another, that’s still a lot of things. Apart from the Disney catalog, Fox has a huge catalog of movies and TV shows that Disney will oficially have access soon.

Pretty much this. If AOS is still going by that point, they are very likely to include mutant stories, as it is a very versatile show that is always catching up to the movies. Runaways, I have my doubts. It seems like they are already setting up an origin story for Molly, and it's all happening before the deal being finalized, so it might be too late for them to go the mutant route for the character by the time they are actually allowed to do it (although there is always the retcon solution). And yeah, we might get some original mutant-led TV shows out of it, 'cause X-Men is a gigantic franchise, so there will be no shortage of spin-offs they can produce.

This is no consolation if you have just watched the availability of Disney material dwindle on other streaming services that you have been paying for.

In other words: "I know you were already paying to watch that, and we were financially benefiting, but so were our new competitors. So, I am taking it away and making you pay more if you want it, just so we can take more of the money and our competitors make less from our content."

Indeed if they are not aiming to invest heavily in new streaming content, in an era when all of the other streaming services are, surely being exclusive but costing less is a bad thing for the consumer?

I am in. I don't expect them to move everything to their service. I think Runaways would still be on HULU since they will become majority owners of Hulu once the Fox sales goes through, though they may sell it off. AoS will probably stay on ABC as they own that too and like a good drug dealer, you gotta give a taste of stuff for free, so they may keep some stuff out there...

It is possible down the road that as MCU phases out or downplays certain properties for example the Black Widow, they might be able to put them into other media like the new service. If so, maybe a few years yet, we could see a spin on the Daredevil/Widow pairing from years ago. I would like that.

According to them, they will invest, but it will be a quality over quantity thing.

With Titans also going to be on netflix I see Disney having multiple shows on different formats or whatever it is called, so all Marvel shows being on it but you can also view them on others as well most likely it being a national thing.

Mutants are pretty malleable and far-reaching so you could just deal with the day to life of being a mutant and how that impacts a character. This works more for the netflix shows and cloak and dagger as they strive to be more "on the ground" and tackle local issues affecting their neighborhood.

AoS would be pretty much an extension of what they did with the inhumans as well as them exploring life from the MRD's perspective.

Do you think Scarlett would be up for that? Appearing as a bit player in Disney's streaming service?
