Saga (but I've only read up to book 4)
    Orbiter
Conan the Barbarian (Busiek and Nord)
    I Am Legion

I like science-fiction, fantasy, action, etc. The kind of stuff that doesn't happen in real life. This list would be a lot easier if I could include Planetary and Immortal Iron Fist

    Orbiter is another Ellis Classic

Give it some thought. What are you favorite 20 non-superhero runs?
I realize there is a thin line sometimes between what is and isn't a superhero comic but I'm trying to delve into memories of some of the comics I liked as a kid though this is by no means a top 20 list.

    Casper the Friendly Ghost
    Wendy the Good Witch
    Hot Stuff the Little Devil
    Archie
    Classics Illustrated
Various Tarzan stories and similar stories

All I can come up with right now discounting things that are kind of in the superhero category and even some of these kind of are.
    Power with Girl is better.

I definitely need to re-read it again soon.

    I knew I'd forget a few, so I'll add:

Arrowsmith and the unfinished Battle Chasers. I never got into Battle Chasers when it was coming out, but the trade that I got was pretty awesome. Arrowsmith was a complete story and it was a cool take. Makes me want to re-visit a lot of those old Cliffhanger published comics, because they were done right, IMO. Creator-owned and passion projects of the creators.

These books sometimes do better in a graphiic novel format. Not Planetary though...

Given that Tales established Susan Veraghen, it seems essential for the concluding novel Past Prime. Aside from that, while not all the stories are essential, they do add alot more flavor and depth to an already rich universe, whether it's a South American civil war or a Grendel versus a Vamp in a frozen wasteland, it really broadens the scope of Wagners opus.

Nobody has even mentioned Wagner yet.... Maybe Grendel is a Super Hero? I need to pull those books from the storage and look them over.

He has a costume and a codename and has squared off against Batman and The Shadow (both great crossovers), so while he's definitely a sociopathic villain not dissimilar from Hannibal Lectre, he feels ingrained in the world of superheroes to the extent I was reticent to count him, despite liking the character. His granddaughter Christine Spar, as Grendel, definitely fits the hero mold

I don't think it'd be considered superhero, but I really liked Silent Dragon when I read it.
