As the old thread is long dead, I've created this sort of quasi-sequel to it.

What are your faves?

I feel it's important that Superman's costume is kept streamlined, simple and with not a whole lot of complex detailing.

There are a number of good designs, but I do think these are my favorite. Something about the "rolled-up sleeve" look that conveys "can-do" power nicely.

There is also this redesign, which takes the Bio-armor of Nu52 Superman and redoes it. by making it more of a balance between armor plates and mesh.

These are my current favs

Oh man, this is REALLY close to what I envision in my head for a New 52-inspired "Ultimate" Superman look. Subtle New 52 (no high collar, a few seams but not too many), and the Fleischer S. Only things I envision differently is a less DCEU inspired belt, rather a full red belt that connects to the buckle, and I'd put back the red trim on the sleeves. Maybe also on the collar as well.

Meanwhile something like this is what I would imagine him wearing in the beginning before he finds the actual Kryptonian suit per a strongly Morrison-inspired, if not verbatim, origin. Just also utilizing the Fleischer shield. I like how its slightly more "costumy" than just plain t-shirt and jeans, but still a home-made, rudimentary incarnation.

The only substantial redesign where I've really gone "oh yeah, that could WORK" is this, by "Robobotnik":



Nice texture, the seams are understated and go with the slightly reworked boots, the belt is chunky enough to make up for the missing trunks without being overbearing, and said belt’s old school look, evoking a sort of classic jet-age feel, perfectly offsets the regal aesthetic of the cape being attached to the shield.

Also, I like that first shot at it by Mista-M - the stripes on the wrists being red make them part of a whole with the red trunks, really hooking it into the larger design of the suit, which I feel would maybe get people to tone down their complaints about it. Put the buckle on that belt and we're golden.

Reminds me of Nicola Scott's EARTH 2 design.

I'm a fan of a big S, but not one so big it actually is part of the collar, nor the "cape attaches to the shield" aesthetic. For me that will always be Eradicator's look.
