If he was his own identity... then maybe, but as a 'Robin'... he's about the worst at the job.
To be fair, he was not Bruce's Robin originally he was Dick's the whole point was to have a happy Batman and a brooding Robin. Also, Damian still does counter Bruce's darkness the whole Batman and Robin run is about that. There have been multiple stories where Bruce has stated many times that Damian's presence gives him hope for the future and has used it to pull himself out of dark situations.

The difference between Damian and the others is that Damian had to learn to be a counterbalance because of his influences earlier in life.

Damian is the anti-Robin, but thats part of what makes him interesting as Robin. He’s not suppose to be the "best", he’s suppose to be different and challenging. There’s no point in being the new one if he’s not gonna bring something different and new to the concept.

That was part of Morrison't genius with Dick and Damian as Batman and Robin: The grim Robin and the sunny Batman.

Damian is the worst Robin by far, i dont think ive ever seen Bruce this miserable before. Good character, sucks at the job.

Dick i dont know, hes not robin to me, hes Nightwing! Batmans substitute for when he really needs a vacation.
If you haven't seen Bruce this miserable before then you haven't read everything from the late 80's till the mid 2000's. That was the era of Bat jerk and the grim depressive Batman who was getting his back broken and quitting, got city demolished and overrun by criminals, turning on his friends, creating Brother Eye, losing prominent allies etc.
If you're going to judge Damian by this ridiculous standard then it doesn't look like Tim much of a job either. Atleast he has been ignored in the post Rebirth era in the Bat books and King himself is writing what is a sequel of sorts to the Knightfall era.

Damian works brilliantly as a Robin when paired with Dick as Batman, but even with Bruce he still bounces off his father well because he's very different from either Bruce or Dick. Tim always seemed like a mini combination of Bruce and Dick without any of their potential flaws, which doesn't bring anything new to the table the way Damian does or even the way Jason did when they made him the more "rebellious" Robin post-Crisis.

In general: Dick Grayson. Only comic readers know Tim Drake. He isn't popular and was never a cultural hit. If Tim's costume and weapon is his most memorable trait, then that shows how of a shallow character he is. Tim tends to be refurbished Dick Grayson at best which is why Red Robin never really stuck. Dick just does everything better.

Oh, it was dark alright. Its just that bruce wasnt miserable. He was angry, and fairly extreme, but nowadays he is depressed and suicidal.

Also Damian is being ignored for a reason.

That's because King is writing him and he makes everyone depressed and suicidal. Just yesterday he said that he wanted Tim to be autistic.

    Yes,
Reason 1: Tynion ignored him, Batgirl, Nightwing and Red Hood to focus on others
Reason 2: King doesn't want to write about any Robin period.
So he was ignored by two writers who had specific story reasons, said writers ignored other aforementioned Bat characters as well.
Other than that he was in Metal/Gotham Resistance and Lazarus Contract and Super Sons of Tomorrow and Prelude to the Wedding, that's 4 crossovers in the span of a year and another one is coming. He's also been in crossover books like Batman/TMNT, Shadow/Batman and Injustice vs He-Man. Plus he's returning to Tec and TT is involved in King's Batman plans.

I like the idea of Tim being autistic. The condition should worsen, and he can spend the rest of his four-color existence staring at the same wall in the Batcave. Damian is being ignored for for the same reason Dick and Jason are--Bendis (the Tim Fanboy) is coming in and wants to force Tim down our throats yet again. All hail the king, baby.
