Default Batgirl #28 preview & discussion thread

    BATGIRL #28
Even millennial superheroes are moving back in with their parents! While recovering from the injuries she suffered battling Grotesque, Barbara Gordon’s been living with her police commissioner dad while she recuperates. To get Barbara out of her funk, Jim Gordon hires her to do some I.T. grunt work at the GCPD. Unfortunately, he just gave full security clearance to one of the best hackers on the planet! Batgirl now has access to the police database in hopes of capturing Grotesque…who also seems to be using the database as well! Is this an inside job?

Beautiful, but does a horrible job in hiding her identity.

    Wow, both covers are gorgeous...

Yeah, I was thinking more of a "Nancy Drew-wannabe" look on the variant cover, though it does a better job of incorporating Babs' little Bat-ears with the mask.
    (Not as good as full-blown cowl, but . . . )

The DC Universe is a world where domino masks are acceptable means of hiding one's identity.

I imagine that holds true here .

By the way, after reading issue #27, does it seem a little too obvious that the current Grotesque may really be spoilers:
    Detective Evan Douglas?
    end of spoilers

The art looks great and I love the new costume but still not used to her having no cowl.

Speaking of the cowl, it made more sense in terms of keeping the little bat-ears on her head. If these are bobby-pinned on, they should be getting knocked off in even minor fights.

"I...didn't do it?" Real convincing there, Babs .

I hate to bring up Steph but this does remind me of when she was framed for murder during her Batgirl tenure. That moment where she gives the police the slip right as the detective is about to cuff her also reminds me of Steph dodging Bullock in that one issue of 'Tec.

The current costume still feels like a middle-ground between classic Batgirl and Burnside. It's still trying to go for a youthful, young adult Batgirl, look, which may be partially why the cowl is gone, but it's back to traditional skintight spandex. I'm still not sure how I feel about it.

But to be fair, isn't the costume she's currently wearing suppose to have been a step-up from the costume she wore prior to being shot by the Joker, and she's only going with it now because it was still available after being hidden away in a closet in Commissioner Gordon's home?

And what she supposedly wore prior to be shot by the Joker (at least according to the New52) looked like:
