Trump will be given a hagiography by the media who will paint over all the shitty policies he supported. Just like with George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W Bush, Ronald Reagan on and on and soforth. Any efforts which succeed due to grassroots organizing, revolt, etc. which are demonized today will then be co-opted by liberals to use as a beating stick for later discontents as to how "they" should organize politically. See the Civil Rights movement for an example.

As far as Trump's racism, that's nothing new in this country. Look at Woodrow Wilson with his active support for segregation and white supremacy. Or Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson for that matter.

I think the biggest change is how the reactionary turn in this country will be portrayed. Typically when people think of organized reactionaries they think neo-Nazis. With groups like the Proud Boys and the embrace of individuals like Kanye West, Candace Owens, I don't think what some on the Left picture as a reactionary will look the same.

I am seriously curious what sources you choose to get your news.

I don't see anything particularly new or different about the Proud Boys.

    But there's a major difference.

    Andrew Jackson: 1767- 1845. President from 1829- 1837.

    Andrew Johnson: 1808- 1875. President from 1865-1869.

    Woodrow Wilson: 1856-1954. President from 1913- 1921.

Donald Trump: 1946- Present. President from 2017- Present.

Being a racist in the early 21st century is quite a different thing in terms of public acceptability compared to what it was in the times of any of those other presidents.

I get your point that it's hardly new but I doubt that history will give him a free pass for his time to the degree Jackson might get. Unless we really fall back that is.

The other difference is those other Presidents weren't obviously ignorant incompitants.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Racism is more prevalent and dishonest today than it has ever been. Its not gone, its just morphed into something more entrenched and deceptive.

Deceptive? I beg to differ. I'd say it's been more open and overt since Donald Trump took office and all the bigots out there felt empowered by his racism to follow his disgusting lead. Look at all the instances where white people (almost always women who'd you'd think would not be so knee jerk and know better) have harassed and even called the cops on black people (almost always black men) for innocuous stuff like holding cookouts, walking along roads, hanging out at Starbucks, mowing lawns, campaigning, golfing, napping in a dorm, moving into an apartment, babysitting white kids, the list goes on and on and on.

You are correct WestPhillyPunisher. Where Scott Taylor has a point, however, is the amount of "dog whistling" going on in public discourse (i.e. Andrew Gillium - who happens to be running against African American Ron DeSantis in Florida stating "The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state.")
