Default ...has the most *interesting* power set.

Stargirl's impending demise got me thinking. One of the things I liked about the show is how interesting they made the protagonist abilities. It was more than a hero with a magic stick. I started thinking about other characters whose abilities were especially interesting.

Gambit is a standout for me, which is weird because I've never much liked the character. But his abilities are intriguing. On the surface, he just makes stuff blow up. You start thinking about it tho, his ability to generate and manipulate kinetic energy gives him everything from super reflexes to stamina.

Who, to you, has the most interesting - not the most powerful - but the most interesting abilities?

I like the idea of Jack Hawksmoor from The Authority being able to "talk to cities". I'm not sure that writers after Warren Ellis got that Ellis got the idea from Spain Rodreguiz's Trashman.

While the reader does not get to see much of it?

    The Metropolitan.

(The "Jack Hawksmoor..." mention reminded me...)

Silver Age Hawkman and Hawkgirl are another for me. Aside from technology that let them learn anything, their anti-grav tech allowed them to simulate super-strength while still being in an ability range that needed weapons to face common gangsters.

I have always loved Green Lantern's ability to use his mind to create just about anything with his power ring. Obviously there are other GLs that can do the same thing but Hal always seemed to be on a different level.

Projectra/Sensor Girl had some interesting powers as well.

While I didn't read a ton of GL comics then, I thought it was interesting that when Kyle was the Green Lantern there was an editorial decree that he couldn't do the same trick twice. So you didn't issue after issue of him throwing up the same generic force field or using the same giant hand to grab something or punch someone.

Dan Ketch: Ghost Rider had quite a few. Two of my favorites would be...

    The Penance Stare

    The Hellfire Chain

With Photographic Reflexes & Artificially-Enhanced Physiology, my next choice would be...
