James Gunn to write next Suicide Squad movie.

And the joke was that Drax has no concept of humor, and doesn't have the ability to spout jokes, but tries to anyway to try to fit in.

It says a lot about how badly DC has dropped the ball with their movies that everybody assumes that they will somehow even manage to screw up
poaching one of Marvel Studio's better Directors.

Like DC can't even be trusted to properly use talent that they "steal".

They "stole" Whedon, and he was one of the driving forces in the mcu for while.

Yeah Secret Six Bane had some funny moments, but they also still portrayed him as a brilliant badass.

The obvious "But..." is that there is no telling how well or badly WB may have done with their "Superhero" films by the time this potentially happens.

That said, The Belko Experiment certainly points to that the guy could potentially write an interesting "Suicide Squad" film.

You mean the vast majority of people who are exposed to the character? You know, you don't get a medal for reading comic books. Jim Starlin isn't gonna give you an award for liking the comic book version more.

The rumor about Suicide Squad was that the reshoots and re-edits and jokes were to make it appeal to movie goers who like the GoTG film so I guess this was a good move.

This is a bad idea. If the DC universe had been making good movies, this might be more of a lateral. If this fails, he is justifying his firing.

I just think this is a flawed take. What I find extraordinary is how quiet James Gunn has been since his firing, he could be out there slinging mud but he's not. I think he's been very respectful to Disney and certainly apologized for his decade old tweets.

At the end of the day, James Gunn is a filmmaker, and a guy needs to work. Not saying that James Gunn will have trouble finding work but if you have WB executives calling you saying "Hey, do you want to write a screenplay and maybe even direct it?" I doubt he's going to say no.

Personally, before this news hit. I didn't care at all regarding another Suicide Squad film, but now I'm genuinely interested in this project way more than I was before - especially IF he's going to direct the film.

I think Drax dies in Avengers 4 and Bautista will no longer be working for any Disney projects.
