Default The Gifted - "coMplications" Episode 3 (Spoilers)

Official description: Polaris' baby begins to suffer from a deadly illness, leaving the Inner Circle unable to heal her, and prompting them to turn to an unexpected source for help. Meanwhile, Reed and Lauren take an excursion to deliver illegal meds, but Reed's powers complicate their plans. Then, Thunderbird and Blink meet the leader of the Morlocks - a shadowy group of mutants that live underground - who offers to help them find the Inner Circle, but the two factions may not have the same goals.

What are you most looking forward to this week on The Gifted?

How will it do now that it's finally airing alongside The Flash?

For me I am curious about both finally the introduction of the Morlocks for the show and how they get portrayed, since a lot of the idea of separation and mutant homeland does sound quite similar to the concept of just hiding away from human society altogether, so how are Morlocks and the Inner Circle really all that different then? Or how are Morlocks and the Underground different since the Underground also largely hides in the shadows and seeks to minimize or avoid conflict with humans? It just sounds like a lot of similarities at least on the surface level so I am eager for specifics to better understand these different perspectives on the show.

And of course given the preview clips I am looking forward to our first real mutant-mutant battle of the show with Marcos seemingly launching a desperate solo assault on the Inner Circle's HQ in a (misguided?) attempt to rescue (cough cough or abduct cough cough) Polaris and Dawn.

The Reed's mutation coming out plotline I feel is almost overdone by now we've had it already it's fine to not keep it secret anymore but honestly I hope it doesn't take much screentime.

Now the ratings.. hoo boy. I know last week was a 0.7 live. This week we finally have the dreaded beginning of The Flash right up against The Gifted. My prediction is the show gets a 0.6. Gotta hope for those DVR watches and all the overseas interest to sustain this show. And possibly.. once more "action" begins and we get the intro of characters such as the enigmatic "Twist"... a recovery in live viewers.

    ...
What the preview showed (Lorna, Marcos, & the baby), the Morlocks, and Eclipse vs. the Frost Sisters.

About the same, but hopefully, a l'il better.

I actually wanna know what's wrong with Dawn, and how & why Eclipse is able to help her with his powers.

Really liked Marcos' flashback, and learning his mom was a Mutant. So it's an eXtreme case of jaundice, with baby Dawn...

Now THAT was crazy! Did NOT eXpect that to happen so soon! Lookin' for the Morlocks roX, too!

As suspected, BEST ep yet, no contest. And it's only halfway thru. Much better pacing, and more interesting plot developments, all the way across.

Wow, Blink, can't wait to see where they take her with this.

    I am SPEECHLESS!

Well, they may have just been joggin' out of the gate, but they're RUNNIN' now. First ep that was on par with some of the better ones from S1, for me. And HOLY, neXt week's ep looks intense, with some MU/IC confrontation FINALLY! Really liked tonight's ep, tho, and wish it would've started with somethin' like this. This is the first one I really look forward to, and can't wait to watch again. My FAITH, has been RESTORED!

    Another enjoyable episode.

Poor Marcos. Loved his showdown with the triplets.

Blink was great this episode, and I love that she "sees energy" or whatever it was.

Morlocks were cool, but I want more

That white cop is totally a Purifier.

Can't wait to see some actual mutant vs mutant actions next week.

This season, each episode has better than the last! I am really enjoying all of the directions.

I wonder if that is the real Clarice or a shap-shifter Morlock replacement?

What are Reeva's powers? It didn't seem like sonics.

Better than episode 2 (not a difficult task BTW)

Inner Circle came across less overtly "evil"

Underground by contrast seems increasingly like the bad guys IMO

First Marcos tries abducting Lorna and lies to her about the Cuckoos, viciously attacks the Cuckoos burning one's arm

He is then escorted out, when he arrives back at the apartment he freaks out more saying he needs to "hit em back"

Dude what on earth. YOU JUST HIT THEM AFTER THEY TRIED TO HELP YOU TO SAVE YOUR KID? WHAT.

Then to top that off, we get more Thunderbird (back to being the hardass leader again, groans) saying they need to kill Lorna and Andy

Lmao if anyone still roots for Underground. I'm sorry I'm just done with the lot of 'em

Jace's scenes were very compelling and almost like a different genre of show they were powers-less sort of "real" feeling

Jace no longer comes across as a bumbling "Keystone Cop" as he did in season 1, now he is treated with more respect and we see his superior abilities compared to the others

I am almost warming up to Jace as the real antagonist for this season.

I'm glad ThunderBlink is finally hitting some roadbumps, impressed Blink actually is doing what Erg wanted and is going to be a spy for the Morlocks. Not sure if she will keep that up the whole season or eventually break down and admit everything to Thunderbird. But either way, thankfully it makes her slightly more appealing. (Her CONSTANT sarcastic quips during the sewer jaunt were extremely getting on my nerves, like I get she is "the sarcastic girl" but come on... let's done that down somewhat)

Reeva made an excellent point to Andrew, it's easy to fight your enemies but it's harder to go up against your former friends. But you do what you must for the sake of something much bigger than any one of us.

SO GLAD Lorna rebuffed Marcos' entreaties. SO GLAD. Thank you show. When she initially gasped and all that at his presence a lump was forming in the pit of my stomach that the show was going to lean way too far into teasing a reunion between them.

I did find it amazing Marcos actually offered to help stay with Inner Circle... I don't know why they didn't take that offer seriously? And try to use him? Why just say no? Seriously, that was weird. I would have immediately tried to find out how serious he was, he would be useful.

Reed is just like... a comical dumbass. I mean I was just laughing hard at his stupid antics. Good lord. How dumb can you possibly get Reed????

The preview for next episode is "straight fire" as the kids say, definitely looking VERY forward to it.

Well here's to hoping the ratings were at least not super terrible.

When did Marcos try to abduct Lorna? Cause trying to persuade someone to come with you, isn't the same thing as physically taking someone against their will. Two different things.

She releases a hyper-sonic sound that sound that scrambles peoples brains, and interferes with their powers.

When he beat up the Cuckoos and was storming over to where Lorna was. What do you think he was doing? He was going to try to beat up everyone and take Lorna with him forcefully.

The persuasion attempt was over by the time he was being escorted out by the Cuckoos. Lorna was done with the conversation.

Do I feel for the guy being separated from his kid sure

And like I said they should have explored his offer to join them and not just dismissed it

But... he is turning into a creepy stalker. He is.

Then he lies to T-bird and Blink about what happened, and pretends he was just randomly attacked or something. So it's time to "hit them back". Playing up on Thunderbird's ego problems and leadership insecurities, wanting to please Vange by being willing to kill the "traitors". Very toxic and combustible mix there.

Walking over to someone doesn't equate to abduction. You said he attempted to abduct Lorna, which never happened. You assumed it would, and that doesn't mean that actually would have happened. Regardless, Eclipse wasn't done talking to Lorna, and was cut short by the Cuckoos. He used force to break free from their control and then attempted to make his way back to Lorna. That doesn't mean he was "abducting" her. I can see how you can come to that conclusion, but saying he attempted to isn't actually true.

Regular lookin' Morlocks self-scarification, as a badge of honor.

Reeva's Mutant Nation plan... and the national Health Dept.? I got some suspicions, cough*X1*cough, maybe?

Marcos' shout-out warning to Lorna @ the elevator, before he went on the attack, guess we now know why she supposedly breaks ties & goes it alone. When she comes to the realization, they all better look the fawk out, 'cause she's gonna UNLEASH! Almost kinda = Mags/Emma, @ the end of IvX. For some reason, it brought that to mind. Probably 'cause it's recent, and featured their parent figures.

Just a few of the things, that stood out & stuck with me.

OMG, AN, your bias gives you the strangest view on things.

DenOfGeek.com, The Gifted Season 2 Episode 3 Review: coMplications
Marcos and Lorna reunite in one of The Gifted's best episodes yet. ... The Gifted gave us one of its best episodes ever tonight, with an hour that explored the choices we make about intimacy and vulnerability in our relationships. ...
I agree, I really enjoyed it.

Realization of what? Marcos does not know that's occurring and it plainly isn't occurring either. He is just desperately screaming his own warped perspective on the matter to justify his violence.

Yes those M's on the Morlocks faces were very reminiscent of what Masque did to brand Morlocks permanently (also looks like the way mutants were branded in Bishop's timeline)

The Health Dept thing I assumed was to find a cure for baby Dawn actually... I would be shocked if it was something like "poison all humans". That would be cartoonish

We'll see. I'm of the mind it's not as cut & dry as he made it sound, but do & have always thought influence/power of suggestion is @ play, in order to get her to jump from the fence to the side she was already leanin' towards anyway.

That's what it reminded me of.

Not poison, that would be silly, Mutantnize the nation. But even that, seems over-the-top. SO, my new theory is... using the health dept.'s records, to locate other, unknown-to-them Mutants, to join them & populate their "nation" with. This could be how Twist comes into the picture.

Better pacing, more plot movement, some high points. This was better, hopefully that momentum maintains.

Did we watch the same episode? MU comes off as bad guys? Seriously?
