But was Violet always a character in a "different universe"? Didn't they say the Young Animal line was still suppose to be (somewhat) connected to the main DC universe? Doom Patrol used characters from the main DC universe, and haven't Batwoman and Batman (among others) appeared in Mother Panic?

And while it's not an example of " the last time at DC a character from a completely different universe just showed up in the main one with no explanation", what do you call Harleen Quinzel and Renee Montoya?

Can i say Swamp Thing and COnstanstine given how DC rarely have them crossover with other heroes until recently with Justice League Dark. I mean the JUSTICE LEAGUE rarely acknowledge Swamp Thing's existence in Alan Moore's run of the character.

Also Why not add Violet Page to the Batman Mythos of characters as if the family isn't bloated already.

The YA books take place on Prime Earth, that's true. But Violet specifically got stranded in a different universe as a result of Milk Wars. She doesn't exist on Prime Earth anymore.

Not the same thing. Both of those characters originated on TV, but the ones in the comics are not the DCAU versions.

So? If Violet were incorporated into the current regular DC universe, she could be separate from her post-Milk Wars version (a version I didn't bother buying the issues for; I just bought and enjoyed the initial "present-day" run).

However, Swamp Thing and John Constantine were created within the main DC universe; the Vertigo line wasn't around until they had already been in the regular DC universe.

Constantine's first issue was released in 1987; the Vertigo line wasn't established until a few years later. And Constantine as well as Swamp Thing were involved with Crisis on Infinite Earths which ran from 1985-1986.

No, she couldn't. There aren't two seperate characters to work with here. There is no Violet Paige currently on Earth Prime.

And DC can just ignore that future stuff and just move on with her as a character in the present.

Unless there's an unwritten agreement that says DC can't use the character outside of the Young Animal line, all signs seem to indicate they (DC) own her and can do what they want with her.

You keeping saying "can't", but you've offered no proof of that.
You may not want them to use her, but where does it say they CAN NOT?

Dude, I'm not talking about rights or licensing or whatever. They can't use her right now in the main universe because she's in a different universe. Seriously, this cannot be this difficult to understand.

You're arguing why they shouldn't, not why they CAN'T.
Your argument assumes that DC stories never-ever go against ANYTHING that was published previously, and unfortunately that's not the case these days. Writers constantly ignore what was said/done in previous runs. It's why DC has had so many cluttered, confusing continuity issues. Nobody at DC really seems to be willing to define what is or isn't "canon" any longer.

But... that's exactly why they can't. Just like they can't have Terry McGinnis or DCAU!Jim Gordon just show up in Batman next week or whatever.

No, not at all. Only that if they do, it's usually bad. Hence they unspoken part of the "can't": they can't without reason and have it make sense.
